Schon doesnt use ivory for buttcaps, but this cue looks like its had an addition spliced onto the forearm, so the buttcap might have been replaced too. Better pictures would be well...... better....

Looks like someone Frankensteined that thing together. The joint looks different than any Schon I have seen and it sure looks like someone chopped off the front part and stuck a piece of ebony on there.

If it is all original and a Schon it is an interesting cue but I doubt it is the case here. More pics would help. Also you can email the folks at Schon and they will get back to you with any info they have.

Better pics

Hope these pics will help.

Someone has definitely put that cue back together from a major incident. If it plays good keep it because selling it will be tough to impossible unless it is really really cheap. IMO of course.

Looks like the cue broke at the joint and someone along the way put a donor piece from another cue on it or made one for it. I hit with a Schon that had a similar surgery done on it and it played very nice just not something I would pay much for.

I'm betting it started out like a Schon I have.

Agreed. The forearm was broken, either smashed against the table or dropped and it hit something just right. It was cut, bored, and a new nose and joint installed.

Value

How can i figure out what the cue retailed for when it was new? I emailed schon a week ago, and still no reply.

I am no where near an expert but are you sure its a schon? I didnt see schon on the butt.If it does say schon maybe it was changed also.If you do find out its a schon (although there are a lot who would dissagree with me)I would send it to a good cue maker and have it fixed better than that.Would cost quite a bit and it will never really be a schon again but it might be worth it to someone. The broken Schon I have is now being repaired by a well know custom cue maker, it was expensive but worth it to me.But please if you have it fixed let the next owner know it was fixed. No matter what I think its a nice looking cue(all but the first 5 inches)
