Schon Jump Break Cue JUST RELEASED!!!

Not to be negative but for $800 I can get a nice Schon player and a good J/B both for that price or maybe even less. I know it's new and enticing because it's made by Schon but it has to really offer up something more than the name to carry that much of a cost. Is there something special about the shaft, joint, etc?

schon jb

So has anyone tried this cue yet?

I got one in April for $420.00 new. It hits like a hammer but I did'nt like the tip so I put the Tiger Icebreaker on it and it hits like a bigger hammer. The specs on the JB are the same as thier reg. sticks. I don't know for sure but I think the shaft is stronger with less flex.

Yes...and once again, a new member bumps a two-and-a-half year old thread that had died...a thread which has nothing currently for sale within the thread...rather than posting his "new acquisition" in the gallery or review section!

And we continue to bump this thread for a few hours...or a few days...pushing it back to the top ahead of threads with ACTUAL items for sale (or wanted)...just so we get in the last word...rather than letting it slowly die back into the depths of the dead threads...

Jump/break cues seem to be the next snake oil for pool players...I don't get it. $400 for a predator, $350 for a lomax, $600 for a Varney and now $800 for Schon? When does it end and what is the value add? I tried six break cues and walked away with a McDermott Stinger...$180. Once realizing the samsara tip was probably the golden ticket to this combo, I put a samsara tip on my Cuetec J/B, yes...the one I bought in 1998, and to my amazement, it breaks and jumps just as good as the Stinger. Is this combo for everyone, probably not because many of you are too concerned with the "what's magical" for my game this week...what's got all the hype so I can run out and buy it. There are options... I have many Schon cues, I love them and my kids will love them. I hope Evan and Co sell a bunch...or at least didn't put all their financial eggs in this one basket.

I've sold three Schon Jump Break Cues since Jan 1-2012

Exclusive ?? ouch...... Here's three I've brought in and sold, my photo's of the cues, not schon's web site. I will also say, if you don't know what your doing with these as a seller, your in for one big learning curve.
Good luck with your sale.

I've Got To Ask......

Two years ago, I finally relented and purchased a used break/jump cue. I bought a McDemott Stinger on e-bay for $90 shipped. I had never used a break cue before then and basically just relied upon pounding the rack of balls with the best house cue I could locate on the wall rack at the pool halls.

Now maybe I don't hit the cue ball as hard as everyone else that has tried my break cue but everyone that tried it loves it......for me, it's okay but I really don't see any better break results using it than with just using a good house cue. The jump cue feature is a nice plus but I never try jumping a cue ball so I do not derive much playing edge from that added feature.

So here's why I'm posting this thread.....I have never personally found my B/J cue to be that much of an added weapon and for the prices being quoted nowadays, I'm thinking ya gotta be nutso to spend $300 or $400, let alone $800 on "any" B/J cue.....Predator, Joss's Thor, or Schon's version. I've seen some custom cue-makers B/J cue sell for that.....a Paul Mottey B/J cue just sold on e-bay last week in the $600 range......other cue-makers have had theirs sell for even more......so I can see where a Paul Mottey signed and dated 3 piece break jump cue might command that price because of its rarity but even that cue can't be that much better as a break cue than others.....or am I out in left field on this one????????

$800 for any break jump cue, except perhaps a collectible one made by some esteemed cue-maker, seems ludicrous to me...........does anyone else agree with my thoughts or does an expensive break/jump cue warrant the price because of its performance. Heck, I see the women pool players on ESPN break the racked pool balls with a lot less force and power than I hit the pool balls with and they pocket balls a lot more often and wind up with a better table layout than I experience breaking the rack. Do they use some super break cue....like perhaps the new Schon cue might turn out to be?

Seems to me that it's simply more an issue of the cue physics of breaking the racked balls and most break cues all perform very similarly with few standing out any better than the others..........your views and opinions would be very much welcome.

Wow...I really thought my "sarcasm" in my first post in this thread would've been picked up on...I was mistaken.

The guy who posted these hasn't been on since 3/17/10!!! OMG! It was the same day he posted these...he made a quick post...and then exited stage left...never to be seen on AZ again...What?!? Say it's not so!!!

There's nothing for sale in this thread...and yet people keep "reviving" it!!!

If you want to buy one of these cues - or heck even b!tch about the price, why not call the freakin' number provided in the original post???
