I know the Runde era started in 82', but when did he stop making cues for Schon?

Previous poster is correct, 1981 - 1992, then he didn't do anything for a year or so and started making small numbers of Runde cues, I believe he did that on his own for 10 years or so, not sure if he's still at it. Evan has been at Schon since 1992. To my knowledge Terry Romine has been and is still part owner as well, more from a financial perspective but he definitely lends his opinions on designs, direction, etc.

Sources 'close' to the parties indicate that the one year 'off'
for Bob was a part of the buyout deal.

Yep! These both sound right!
And yes, Bob Runde is still currently making these amazingly high quality cues... He has made several this year so far, however, he is making them at a very limited number and on his own schedule when he is not golfing :)
