Schon, schuler, or pechauer

Not many on this forum seem to play with a Pechauer. I had a nice Brunswick conversion stolen and needed a cue. Money being an issue while I am sacing for something custom I got a Pechauer Pro with their LD shaft to tide me over.Small investment and it pkays great. Great hit and feel . Keep in mind that most places will accept returns so you can give it a try.

Thanks for the input, I'm leaning toward a schon and prob a tiger shaft or predator but so many decisions.

Why not just slap a Tiger shaft on the Action cue and save a bunch a money.
Probably play the same as a Schon with a Tiger shaft.
But if you have the new cue bug and want the prestige of having a Schon cue go for it.

Out of the three that you mentioned, I prefer a Pechauer. However, I would look into a "custom" cue maker. There are many out there but handmade cues in a lot of peoples opinion, even the cheaper customs, play better that "production" cues. Plus, custom cues usually come with two shafts so it gives you some confidence of owning a real gem. If you are interested I have a cue made by Ted Kidwell that I could sell you with two shafts for somewhere in your price range. Ted makes cues out of Reno, Nevada and he learned from Jim Buss (Former President of the American Cue Makers Association). He really makes some great stuff. PM if you are interested. Regardless, for your price range, I would definitely get something "custom" rather than "production"

Schon

Get that guys Runde area Schon. Get a re finish and an extra shaft.
You will not be sorry. Moreover it will hold it's value.

I bought a Pechauer from my friend 6 or 7 months ago. I love it. Not only is it a beautiful cue, but I dig the balance and the hit is really what I was looking for. If you're looking for a production cue you can't really go wrong with any of those 3 choices though.

I own a Schuler and a Pechauer, I recently sent the
Schuler (my everyday player) in for some work and
started using the Pechauer.

Now maybe the Pechauer
I have is a lemon but I honestly couldn't stand to play
with it, the hit just didn't feel near as solid as my Schuler.
I actually put the Pechauer away and am playing with an
old Players cue I had.

I don't own a Schon but have shot
with them before and I feel they are a good solid hitting
cue. You may be able to get a custom cue for that price,
just make sure you try a couple out before you order one.
Can't wait for my Schuler to get back, should be here in a couple of days.

I own a few Schulers and Schons, and I have owned a few Pechauer cues.
The Pechauer cues did not play very well, in fact they played bad.
Schulers are terrific cues, but I would recommend Schon out of the three.

Interesting old thread. I have a Pechauer and a Jacoby and a Schuler SLC. The peach and jacoby are my best with their rogue and black shafts. The Schuler slc is the best with a standard maple shaft. You can watch David Siltz on youtube use all the big name customs. Tascarella, carmelli, southwest and more. He will tell you his pechauer, joss, jacoby hits better. I believe him.

Ok. This really doesn't mean a thing. Just means he likes those cues. Doesn't mean one is better or worse than the other. Cues are like asking what your favorite beer/wine/pizza is. Very subjective.

If you buy a new Pechauer the warranty is off the charts AAA+.

I had a Pech Sneaky I bought in about 2010 or '11. The shaft warped after about 5 years or so,
they replaced it immediately, no questions asked.

3 or 4 years ago shaft was warped, neither time bad just a little roll out.
I sent entire cue back and within a week Scott from Pechauer emailed me that butt was warped also
and offered me a credit of $370 towards any other cue. I told him I only paid $290 for the cue years ago, he said it doesn't matter.
I opted for the "Naked Black Ice Break cue and also bought the 8" extension kit with it just to spend some $$ with them.
Neither has been used, still new in box from Pechauer in my safe.

I still have the email communications from Scott dated March and April of '21

In other words, nothing means anything. I'm not buying in.

That’s not what he said. He said that everyone has personal preferences. Dave Siltz’s tastes don’t need to match yours or mine.

I have never hit a ball with a Schuler. They might be the best hitting cues on the planet, but I wouldn't know and I don't want to theorize.
