school me on chalk...

Yes, I guess official lead limits could be in parts-per-million of chemical amount instead of parts-per-million of weight (I don't think volume works) - do you know which? As you say, either way it's easy to tell which chalk might be dangerous.

[EDIT: LOL, Renfro - I was typing this while you were posting the answer above. Thanks for finding out. Mr. Bond is right in principle.]

With the lead as high as it was in the green, I would just assume (and at least hope) that the green's formula has been changed since that time.
But I never thought to ask until now, so I shot an email over to Skip to see whats up with that.

Hopefully he'll tell me that the dead cats they were using for green coloring have been replaced by organically raised dead frogs.

Do you guys seriously believe you miscue less with a different chalk?

I mean come on.... Get your body in a good/solid position, Keep your head down, Follow through smoothly, and listen for the ball to drop. You won't miscue, I promise!

I have gone 2 or 3 games at a time without chalking but once and no miscuing. No, I am not a center ball player either. I use regular old master chalk. There is nothing ANYONE could tell me that would make me spend $30 on a piece of chalk. GET REAL!

What if the girl in your avatar came up to you and whispered; "if you buy a cube of Kamui chalk for me, I'll....."?????;)

Yes, as a matter of fact, I DO !!!!!!!

Agreed. Magic or Blue Diamond and they do NOT cost $30, but a measly few bucks each... and I only chalk once before the game...so I know I don't use as much chalk.....

Plus, very nice doing drills at home without having to chalk each time. I can do 30 or more drills without picking up a piece of chalk. What's not to like about that :)

Well,

I just got my new cubes of Predator chalk...

It's really good stuff, a bit soft, I'd say it goes on really well, and covers the tip really good, and stays on really well, naturally if you dress your tip like I do (I'm really particular about tip coverage)...I'm not a driller...

It hit the cue ball really well...english, follow, draw, and stop shots worked just fine...

Absolutely no complaints on this stuff...I did miscue a couple of times, but I was reaching out on the cue ball and I don't chalk after every shot...so, I believe it was from hitting the same point on the tip that was already hit...

so on my list:

1) Masters Pre-Flag Green (with heavy Lead) 20+ year old stuff

2 & 3) Blue Diamond and Predator == I'd say equal liking until further play...(actually 1-3) about equal

4 & 5) Kamui = both .98 and 1.21

6) Magic Russian Chalk

So, yes, I guess I'm a "Chalk Nerd"
