Scott Frost Doesn't Show Up

When I saw that Frost missed his time and was disqualified, I thought to myself that it was kinda an obvious "move". That is, he goes to the open, but doesn't make a good showing b/c of being disqualified, and he has a huge room full of fish who are getting knocked out of the tournament to keep him in action all week. None, of these "fish" can say, "I need the 6; you got to the forth round of the open." or whatever. They haven't seen him play all week.

One poster said it best, Scott Frost is a gambler first and a gambler second.

Scott is a gambler first and a gambler second that obviously feels no obligation to his sport, to it's fans, or to those that invest money in it. He, and the many others over the years, who sometimes see major pool tournaments that charge admission as no more than a vehicle for setting up their action, can give pool a bad name.

I don't want to go too hard on Scott or anyone else here, for I do understand that it's tough to make a living at pro pool, and that players have gotta do what they gotta do to ensure a decent income from pool.

Still, if paying fans at a tournament have to spend time thinking about who's giving it their best effort and who isn't, it doesn't bode well for the sport we love.

Thank god for the women of the WPBA, who take their fans seriously and always give a maximum effort.

Tap, tap, TAP!!!!! :) Thank you, sjm!

Of course, we don't know for sure why Frost or any of the others forfeited, and, to be fair, only a handful of the men pros behave poorly - most of the men handle themselves very professionally. That doesn't change the fact that it's extremely rare for women pros to forfeit matches at all, much less to enhance their gambling potential during a tournament, of all things!!!

Its themselves they are messing with not you or I or the Game

We love sports because it is humans (us) that are doing it. The quest for perfection in skill and the inner force that guides that skill. Humans mess up. Thats whats interesting. Its HUMAN. Put a couple of hundred women entries in a national tournament and there is bound to be some drama. Scott and Earl mess up OK. Let it go people and enjoy the other 198.

Why Scott forfeited

well I must say that when I left Q Masters last night around 3am Scott and Pookie were still matched up playing 1 pocket for the 4th day in a row.
And for the "beans" that are at stake I would take a forfeit vs Open matches anyday..................Anyone know if they are done yet?
Also I hear Scott has been in town for a couple weeks prior to the Open so he knows where things are, no getting lost for him.

Did Scott and Pookie play for 4 days non-stop? Or did they quit, go to sleep, come back the next day and play some more? Also, do you know what kind of weight is involved, and who is the favorite to win?

It still doesn't quite add up to me. AZB's original report was:

"In the biggest surprise of the day, 'The Freezer' Scott Frost forfeited his match against Wes Warren. Frost had been given bad directions to get to the Convention Center and arrived 10 minutes after the forfiet had been called."

If his intention was to forfeit, why did he show up at all?

I can't believe it took 25 posts for someone to chime in with a clue, if anyone really believes Scott got lost then I think you must be drunk. A match worth 10k is more important then the US Open, it's sad but true, I doubt it will change until pro pool pays out the type of money other pro sports does and we all know that ain't going to happen any time soon.

I know of lots of pro golfers that have missed tee times, mainly because they were out partying hearty the night before. It happens a lot in Golfs minor leagues. Believe it or not a lot of the golfers and their caddies drink a lot on the road. Well on second thought I am sure you believe.
Although mistakes are indeed make at every level in all sports regardless of the degree of professionalism it is easier to understand why it may happen to pool players. Most have never been held accountable for their actions or inactions that other professionals with sponsors who pay a premium for product representation. Nor will much change until sponsors are found with signed committments and consequences for both parties. Likely as not Frost could have been involved in a match in which he could have earned more money than first place at the Open pays. At the present time (and forseeable future) pool is an individual sport played mostly by very talented undisciplined
young people with few responsibilities that those of us who watch or otherwise track their progress have. In many ways I really envy them!

ok this is what i know.....not sure if they slept cause i had to sleep and take care of other things while in Va this week but i "assume" they slept since they had 2 different tables from Thurs. to Fri......didn't go over Wed night
but the game was set as follows...... first one to get 2 sets ahead at 5 ahead
first set was played 10-7
second set was played 9-7
at one time Pookie had a set up but like i stated Friday/Saturday morning at 6am they were still playing, i dunno someone call Q Masters and see if they are still there...lol

Scott and Pooky were playing since Monday. Every nite. They were playing Friday nite, all night, til I left at 4 AM. They were still playing when I came back at 10 AM Sat.

Scott forfeited his match by his own choice.

Eric,

They were playing when we were there Sunday the 12th from 10:00 am until we left at 1:00 pm. I'm pretty sure they had been there all night.

Hey Wal,

In Hamiltucky, after all that time spent together, wouldn't Scott and Pooky now be related?

Lost in Space

Confound this with the fact that Frost was in Virginia Beach for several days the week before the Open. Maybe someone should have given him a guided tour. The convention center was all of 5 miles away!!

Call me skeptical but I'm beginning to doubt the "I got lost" story LOL. There were enough pool fans in that town that he could have at least gotten directions or a ride, if not a police escort :D
