Scott Frost's opinion about Predator tables

A pool table isn't the space shuttle. It's suppose to be flat, it's suppose to be level. It's suppose to have rails that bank true and pockets that don't spit balls back out. If Scott has a problem which of these critical areas are deficient. You can't get sued if you state the slates not level can you?
Playing surface is smaller than a Diamond and Valley too! Can you name one other table manufacturer that builds rails out of plywood??

Dude there is a big difference between a pool table you would pay 6 grand for and one you buy for $1000 at your local pool and spa dealer. 😂 if you want to sell your table for $6000 which is $500 more then the best on the market you better come with a quality piece of furniture and if you want to call it a commercial table it needs to be torn down and set up quickly and able to handle it over and over again. I’m a big predator fan but it isn’t there yet to me.

I just talked to an un-named pro today that said “The Predator Table is junk , and maybe in several years they’ll have it fixed”.
Everyone has an opinion. He did say he certainly wouldn’t pay more for it then he did his diamond.

We didn’t talk about price or buying. He was in Vegas when they were setting up the tables and took a good look at the construction and said they were junk. Even the pics posted here on AZ show the poor construction. You don’t have to be a builder to see the table looks of inferior quality.

I like all my Predator products but the 8th graders that built that school wood-shop project called a pool table, need to leave it in the classroom as an example of what not to do.

Apparently you think thats all there is to a pool table. How about a pool table built cheap as shit and won't last! In case you didn't know it, PLYWOOD not a rail making material!!!
I'm a woodworker and there are some extremely high quality plywoods currently available. Domestically there is Apple Ply from States Industries and there are a number of Finish Birch and Russian Birch plywoods that are far superior to conventional hardwoods with respect to consistency and stability. You make it sound as though plywood is a dirty word and I assure you it is not.

And I assure you it won't hold up sticking 1,000's of staples in the rails, then pulling them out as well. What plywood is used for that kind of abuse?

When you actually start building plywood rails, then tell me how they hold up from replacing the staples all the time, and hacks working on them as well.

These GC rails were made out of poplar, and look at the damage on them! And plywood is going to hold up better???

Karim is slow to respond but he is also very busy. He has made time for many in-person meetings with me, and I have nothing but good things to say about him and Predator as a company.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't CSI have requirements to have a 7' table playing area be 40" x 80"? I don't know the exact playing area of a Predator table but I believe its at least 3/4" short of 80" for playing area length. I also notice that Predator advertising only shows outside dimensions and not playing area dimensions (I couldn't find any playing area dimensions). What are the playing area dimensions for a 7' Predator table?

39"×78"

I looked up the rule on their site. It says they only recognize 3 sizes as regulation. 40x80 , 45x90, and 50x100.

So these tables don't even meet their own rules?

Frankly if I was buying new, a Diamond would be down the list some. If for no other reason than the lack of flush pockets. I can't for the life of me figure out why they haven't bothered with this clear improvement.

Not sure why people place such value on Diamond's design supporting tear down and relocation. Does everyone on this forum move their Diamond tables to random rooms in their homes after each session...?

I hate diamonds, but I can't think of another new table I'd own besides a GC.

If I was into spending stupid money on a table, it'd be an anniversary or centennial.

Here's my personal hierarchy of tables I've played on:

Anniversary/centennial
GcI-IV
Rebco anniversary knock-offs
Valley coin op
Tie between Diamonds and the table in gramps's hay loft.

so diamonds pockets arent flush??

to the other part
yes, if youve ever put a pool table together once, you probably never want to do it again,

If Anniversary/Centennial had flush pockets instead of that rubber lip, I’d also place it first.

Can’t argue against a GC4, mighty fine table. I mostly play on 9’ Blue labels and they’re a great table except all the black marks I get on my balls.

The Diamonds have flush pockets so I don’t know what that other guy is talking about.

FYI, Diamond was the very first pool table manufacturer that came up with flush pockets, so I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to?

As much as I like Diamond tables the pockets are flush. They are slightly higher than the rail.

How about I say that other table manufactures have redefined what a "flush pocket" is, and Diamond has failed to keep up...?

Sry, I've never considered the Diamond pockets flush
