Just ask me how much I love hearing this news, Vagabond. Couldn't happen to a better guy. Hope he snaps it off. Did Erman make the tournament?

Scotty Townsend is the WINNER of the tournament.Jesse Bowmen beat Jamie Farrel on the loosers side and came back to meet Scotty again in the finals.Scotty took earlier lead but got stuck on the hill( race to eleven).Jesse pulled to 9.Final score was 11-9.Jay Byrd got 4th place.
Erman Bullard was not there.Jungle dude was not there either.
I have not been gainfully employed for a while.Tomorrow morning I am flying to Camen Islands for gainful employment for 5 weeks.Ciao

Congratulations to Scotty Townsend. He's a well known and well respected individual here in Tennessee.

I'm glad Scotty Townsend won myself. Although I have only met him on several occasions, I have heard quite a few colorful tales, all good I might add! :D

Scotty

This IS good news.
For those of you who have heard the tales...don't let them influence you unduly...Scotty is one of the select few I have known that has been able (over the many hard years) to maintain a good heart and his greatest asset is NOT his ability to play the game...it is his unswerving dedication to the game. The truth is Scotty doesn't love money enough (I used to say he hates money) to lay down his principles for it. But he has always loved the game enough to stick with it.
I have known him most of his life and hold him in the highest regard. He is a loyal friend and extraordinary player.
I always celebrate a little for him when he gets there.
Just my opinion, you be the judge.

I saw Scotty play quite a few times when I lived in Ft. Walton Beach and lived at Starcade Billiards. GREAT GREAT player and real nice guy. I'm glad to hear he's on top of things!

He told me that he learned position play because of a TOAD that has long tongue that can sweep 15 inches around. He grew up in the swamps. There was continuous invasion of insects on his pool table. So he got a TOAD left on the pool table so that it could eat all the insects while he is playing on the table. He has to control the whitey to avoid collision with this constantly hopping TOAD .Believe it or not, this is what he told me.He is a nicest guy u can find this day and age.

Scotty definetly is a winner !

:p I have to join the club on always pulling for Scotty Townsend who's been my good friend for 25 years. He definetly puts himself in some bad spots some time but his huge heart and great play helps him outrun the nuts quite a bit. Can't help but love the guy ! :p :D :p

Vagabond,
Yes, but did you think to ask him: Does he aim at the edge of the toad, does he use the "Ghost Toad" system, does he look for the light reflection on the toad, does he use the "fractional toad" system? Inquiring minds want to know.

If you started a poll asking who was the most liked professional pool player, Scotty would be at the top of the list.
JoeyA (will see Scotty this weekend and don't you know I got a little something for him).

Just want to add my good wishes with all the others. I won't bore you with all the Scotty stories, but last week end in mobile there was a crowd around one of the tables with Lil john, Reed Pierce and several others when they questioned Scotty if he had an odometer how many miles it would have on it. I don't remember the answer but you know it had to be a lot and what ever he said got a big laugh. He's just one of the best guys around and still can fire them in.

It did not occur to me.Next time I run into him I am going to ask him.

Scotty has told me the toad story before. I grew up in the same area he did. I wouldn't really classify it as a swamp, although it was near a bayou. The reason he had such an insect problem was because the table he played on was in a tin shed. He also started playing by standing on a bucket, because he couldn't reach the table.

Unbelievable... on August 21st Scotty Townsend wins the tournament at Jim Bob's in Gulfport and on August 27 there isn't a sign left of Jim Bob's Billiards in Gulfport. It's completely GONE. I hope that my friend Art "Gulfport Doc" Tripp had the good sense to evacuate..

Hi, Smorgie! We received a call last evening from "Ricky P." who was using his cell phone. He's from Metairie, which is northwest of New Orleans, as is Joey A.

Ricky P. took his family to Georgia, which is where they are now. At this time, they do not know WHEN they will return to Metairie to their home, but they are expecting the worst. Ricky P. said he did not have time to board his windows up. One thing, though, at least his whole family is safe and sound, but Ricky P. is very distraught.

My prayers go out to all of the good folk in the South, and I look forward to seeing Joey A. Gulfport Doc, Hemicudas, and many others posting soon and get back a sense of normalcy in their lives.

Thanks for your prayers.
A block from Jim Bob I stored my Infiniti G35,some valuable documents and some personal belongings, in a self storage before I came to Cayman Islands.I do not Know what happened to my stuff. They might have been washed into the sea.The storage is only half a mile from the Beach.
