Scrappers

This past weekend my buddy and I were at a very nice tournament with alot of good players, including Dee Adkins, Ryan Stone and several others. The tournament was being played on barboxes, so naturally there were some balls left on the tables after matches. As my buddy and I were sitting there, we were laughing at a couple of guys in the room. These guys live to hit in the balls that are left on the tables after a match. It was amazing how fast they run to the table to run the left over balls. Its like christmas when someone breaks and runs and leaves seven balls on the table for them. Whats even worse is we see the same guys at every tournament doing this. Some of these guys even come to tournaments, not to play, but to try and hit some balls for free. I know this is an obscure post but I had to do it, we were laughing to hard. So we officially labeled these guys "Scrappers".

While reading your post I got a visual of a couple kids in white shorts and sneakers running up to the table from the right, banging in the remaining balls, then exiting to the left. Like the ball boys in tennis matches :D

I kept track of the money I put into the tables at the BCA and VNEA tournaments at the Riviera last year. It was over $300. I wish I didn't give a crap about what other people think, I'd give those guys the 7 at 'scrapping'. :)

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These guts might be the ones winning the same tourney in 2 or 3 yrs. They love the game that one the main ingredients in becoming a good player.

It seems every tournament has a couple of these guys.

At a lot of our tour events, I see the same guys, who never enter the tourney, hitting balls on the open tables.

What's funny is if you stare at them for a while and they notice, they get that look like a deer caught in the headlights.

A couple of these guys matched up on a open tournament table once and got mad at me for calling a match on that table. They asked if I could play around them until they were done!

That's absurd. The BCA and VNEA should not be charging per game as well as an entry fee. I refuse to play in any event put on by these two organizations because of this.

Cool, there's already enough guys I can't beat out there every year.

I'm always nocking in the left over balls. :D It just keeps me in stroke. Whenever I'm at a tourny with my friend he always says to me "Free Balls" and I run over and knock em all in. :D

You could do like they do in Key West and super glue a quarter to the floor, then everyone can try.

B,
I have NEVER done this (this is my first year in a bar table league). But I will admit that everytime I see a table sitting there with unused balls I have a very strong urge to go hit them. I guess that's a good sign.

"ball rats" next time throw a couple quarters on the floor and see what happens;)

This reminds me of a story completely unrelated to this thread, but I think many will get a chuckle (or a sick feeling) ....

A former boss and his buddies had a very interesting way to determine how much 'class' any drinking establishment had. Every time they went into the mens room they'd toss a few coins into the urinal. The rating was based on how much money would accumulate before it disappeared. He claimed that even the finest restaurants in the land had their price

Well, "they" and you got the 7! I wonder if there is a scrap master list ?

Ok, i see guys like this mainly at the pool hall i frequent, during the 1$ tournaments that are held,,, they are so cheap and try to scam the house outa a piddly 3$ for a hour of pool, just to bang some balls around. So now the owner and whomever is running the tournament kicks the person out of the tournament, if they are caught banging balls on a open table.
