Screw boring

OK ... why do you go to the trouble of boring the hole to get the greatest accuracy then reduce that accuracy by threading it.
Would it not be more accurate to bore the hole for a tight fit to the outside diameter of the pin?
Willie, First off, I hope you faired the storm OK?

I drill, bore, and then grind the threads with a tool I built for that, lots of ways to do these things, but the most accrate is, bore and grind, that's why machines shops cut threads, in stead of tapping..
But, whatever works, works.....

See what citizenship does for you?..........makes you smarter!

One of the better kept secrets for machining accurate holes with a superb finish. Been using the extra long carbide fishtail, spiral bits designed for cutting wood for some time now. The endmills are nicer for phenolics and if you need a deeper thru hole than the 1/4" spiral will net you.
Does make one hell of a mess though................
Did I say "secrets"........?

<~~~drill bits are only for roughing in holes..............
