Screw It...Cue Collection going on Ebay - No Reserve

I have a couple of questions regarding the Libra.

Will it come with a letter from CJ Wiley ??

What do you know about Johnny Sanchez working with Balabushka...was he in Brooklyn ?? Since you chosen to pull out a generic paragraph description of their cues we provided on our site and offered to change it, I would be curious to know where you are coming from with this information. Do tell please....I've been interested in their cues for years and have spoken to numerous sources but have only located minimal verifiable information.

Thanks in advance....Sean

John Nemec(another cue maker from Dallas) knew the cue makers and everything about them...Yes I will provide a letter from CJ stating that he played with the cue...I talked to him the last week before he left for Olathe...he was practicing on the bar box..he said he used it a while back...and had some quality finishes in major tournaments with this cue..

John said Potter and Sanchez made the cues out of the garage and when they weren't working on cues they watched cartoons and goofed off...

I have a copy of an old article of the Texas Billiard News featuring them and their work. Says they started in 1985 after buying Stroud's old equipment. It mentions a young Sanchez speaking with George when he was 15 years old and them later him becoming a master machinist after 12 years, but nothing of him having any "hands-on experience" with G.B. Was just curious. I'm always trying to dig up info on them. They made GREAT cues....especially GREAT PLAYING cues. You planning to let the auction run its course or taking offers ??

That is what they told John...and all the cues will run their course on ebay unless I have an outstanding offer on one of them..They will sell for what is bid on them...all six cues...thanks again

Sean,

Whether or not J.S. had "hands on expreience" with G.B. is predicated on someones definition of "hands on".

While it's TRUE that JOHN's hand was on the phone when he talked to G.B. on the phone he was NEVER in G's shop "learning the trade". Also, I have no idea what "DPK influence" means. The only person who , IMO, might clarify this is DPK.

All that said these are wonderfull, rare cues on their own merit and I'll prolly make a play.....

doner=====> spent many hours in JOHN's garage and pimped as many, if not more, LIBRA's as anybody

"DPK influence" meaning the overall style of the cues people have seen over the years in the market....which granted has not been a whole lot over the last 10 years anyway. I'm sure they also had many other stylistic influences, too....such as the early 8-prong Ginas. As did JW, Petersen, and others whose examples done in that style came later. Not sure if it could be said they Libra developed their own style (did they build enough cues)? Maybe you can speak more to that since you pimped 'em. I know they were a 'trendsetter' in incorporating artistic scrim work in their ivory inlays...they had a guy that did that for them. At any rate, to me, Libras remain sort of a mystery and inhabit another place on the list of unappreciated great cuemakers from the past.

the burl and ebony shurtz was taken off today by myself due to a crack found in the burl...the cue is being sent back to Mr. Owen to check out...sorry to all of you who bid on it...

Libra cue

Those guys made a hell of a cue! I had a chance to buy a Libra from Gilbert Martinez Jr. that had like 64 ivory inlays and a southwest style joint. I still kick myself in the ass for not having the cash to buy it.

shill bidding, you should be ashamed

I was gonna bid on the southwest again but I have grown tiresome of you and your auctions. Don't even bother saying that you weren't shill bidding. I just wish someone that is an authority on Southwest would appraise this cue. So you can realize how ridiculous your price is and either sell it for what it is worth or put it in the closet and quit talking about it. I already told you I would pay $1800 for the cue since it has the thin shafts and a finish from someone other than Southwest. If someone thinks I am out of line please let me know.
