I am purchasing two new cues today and am pumped to get them but heres my question. I have a state tournament in three weeks and i dont know if i can make the cue transition in that amount of time. I am able to play everyday for a couple hours at home. Do i leave them sit untill im done or grind it out? Please tell me i can do this in that amount of time, these cues need to be played!

Depends on the player

I have a few cues that I switch back and forth between whenever I want. Some people don't understand how or why but I have no problems. They're also pretty different in that one is very forward balanced with a piloted ss joint and the other not so much with a flat faced elforyn joint with a radial pin. I was just at my state tournament and hadn't played with my Runde in some time and the second day of play I pulled it out because the facility was so warm and humid I felt the forward balance of this cue helped me move the ball around easier, and I played great. One big similarity with both cues is the fact I use a Jacoby Edge Hybrid on both so for me it's just the weight, balance, and stiffness of the hit that I'm adjusting to, I think it would be harder with standard shafts as they can vary in a lot of different ways. It can still be done but I would find myself down on a key shot that I really need to juice and instead of concentrating on the shot I'd be questioning my confidence in the cue. All you can do is try em out, I know I would, and see if you can be 100% confident with them and if you are then no worries. I may be in the minority tho as at last years tourney I bought a new cue mid tourney busted it out for the next match and we took 2nd in open teams. I also always have a new tip put on at these state tourneys and play just as well, but I'm just a lowly A player in the BCA. Hope this helps, enjoy them new cues, and get to practicing!

Give em hell at state, Ben

A good player should be able to adjust to any cue he has to play. Pick the cue you like and go with him, in couple days it will be OK.

Then it sounds like you are playing the tournament for fun and you should use whichever cue you want to.

No sir. Im to much of a competitor. Im going to play my butt off and wanna give myself the best shot i can.

Make sure you use the correct shoes.
Being your own chalk.
Don't forget your powder.
Jump cue.

I would not be concerned about "getting used to" a Scruggs!

Just play with whatever you have been playing with and don't worry about it. You will have plenty of time to get used to the cues later if that is a concern.

i am assuming the Gulyassy is a break cue, no problem getting used to that one. If you use a lot of english all you need to do is find out the difference in deflection between your player now and the Scruggs, you should have no problem at all.
