I like TS cues a lot and this one is my favorite of the group. You are a lucky man to own so many of Tim's cues. I still have trouble thinking about the shop being closed and what happened to Mike.......

Here you go Nick.

I was asked by Tim if I was interested in buying his personal collection of cues.So yesterday I drove down to see my friend. We sat around his table and I got the great pleasure in listening to all the great memories each cue brought to Tim.

Thank you TIM

Eric

The simple full splice (or conversion?) 4th from the left looks amazing. Weird I never saw this post before.

Question for someone who posted about the shaft being a real player.. how can you tell shaft quality by looking at the grain?? any examples of this?

These cues are all amazing.. congrats on the pickup.

In honor of...

Tim Scruggs and for Mr. Eric posting his recent pictures and visit with the Legend himself, I figured I would bump this thread and admire some of the beautiful cues in this collection.

I too was happy to see and hear Tim was doing well. All the best!
Best,
Mo

Nick I hear your a butt man.

Eric

Thats my all time favorite TS cue. I like to pic a favorite cue from each cue maker, I'm lucky to have one cue thats IMO my fav from a cue maker. This TS is just great, I'd love to hear the long version tale of this cue.

I think its great that your keeping the collection whole Eric, I have done that as well. Breaking up collections is good and bad, its good that more people get to own a cue from a cue maker; but its sad to see a whole collection disappear. Its a tough call which is best., I like to see whole collections, its not important who ownes them as much as its good to know they are together and well taken care of. I'm speaking in general terms.

hope you have been well,

kindest regards

the other Eric:)

Here is the pictures of the cue cases that came with the cues I will post the detailed photos of the cues as I get them.
Enjoy

The Dragon Scales case is one of the first high end theme cases we did. I wonder how Tim ended up with it.

Dean Campbell commissioned the J.Flowers tribute case to be made for Tim. He also had us make one for Mike.

The story behind the Tree of Life image on the top pocket goes like this:

In 1994 I traveled to the USA for my first Super Billiards Expo with a booth of our own. My friend Andreas Sattler came with me to help in the booth and to buy some Scruggs cues.

We traveled to Baltimore a few days before the show and Tim and Mike showed us 30 cues that we made up for the show. Andi bought 20 of them but agreed to let Tim show them at the SBE.

Fast forward about a month later and Andi and I are back in Germany and set up at a tournament. Andi has his cues out for sale and I have cases. A guy walks up to us and starts looking at the Scruggs cues and he says, "I know Tim Scruggs very well and I can have any cue in 2 weeks........." with clearly no clue he continues on in this way until I say to him, "you know Tim very well so do you know why his cues play so good?"

The guy has no answer and so I say, "Tim has his own forest. He has been growing the trees himself and that's where all the wood comes from to make his cues and that is why his cues are so good." Andi can barely contain himself.

The guy nods thoughtfully and goes away.

Two weeks later Andi and I are at another event and again we have the displays out. A different guy walks up and is admiring the cues. He then says that "Tim Scruggs cues play good because Tim has his own forest."

Andi and I both fall out laughing and the poor guy is standing there confused with no idea why.

So that's why I put the Tree of Life on the case.

I guess I should say congratulations on getting Tim's cues. As a maker it's kind of sad in a way to see your babies being sold off but sometimes that's how it goes. I sold everything I had collected in 2003. Knowing how much of a fan of Tim's work you are it's nice to see them in good hands.
