Scruggs shafts?

Chuckles

got these with a TS cue I bought... the cue is from 2000, but the shaft collars don't match the double silver rings on the butt. Can anyone tell me if these are Scruggs shafts? The insert is .508", the shaft collars are both about .841". I haven't seen this ringwork on any Scruggs cues... could these be Cochran shafts? The fellow I bought the Scruggs from got it from a widow. Her husband had three cues, all were Scruggs. Any input is appreciated.

looks to be ivory ferrules and high grain shaft wood, not sure who made it,but looks to be high quality.

It's possible, but doesn't look right to me. Comparing with a very old Scruggs I used to have, and newer Scruggs' that have been through the shop, the insert doesn't look correct. That's not to say it's not a Scruggs, just that it's different than what I have seen. I do things different in my cues from time to time that could make them tough to recognize as mine, and i'm sure Scruggs has done the same at points through the years.

Thanks guys, looks like it's going to be hard to figure out who made these. It's too bad, they're good looking shafts.

If You could let us see the taper-

another picture please- the taper would be key- tim let Joss and I think his taper is a dead nuts Joss . I have a friend who owns the taper machine from scruggs.maybe I can get him to look for ya but you need to post a good picture of the shaft taper -measurements would help too. mark

Looks like their work

Can't say for sure. Need them in my hands. The ringwork looks old and clean. Good sign.
Nick :)

I heard Leon Sly has a taper machine from TS. Might be worth inquiring with him, I've spoken to him on the phone a couple times, nice guy. Good luck. Kevin

Tim's partner Mike made most of his shafts to this speck. Almost all mikes shafts have that double white ring in the collar, that was his trademark. Like someone else said, they could have come from tims days with joss but that was a long time ago and the shafts would show more signs of age and those that you have look fairly new. Hope this helps and good luck.
