Hiya all, most now should start to know i always like to promote pool in my country, where its not even considered as a sport for the moment!! shame on them.
well, since some weeks more and more people have been gathering and talking and brainstorming about how we can help pool in our country on our own national forums, and there is going to be new tournaments for the youth (till 16y old) in belgium. Before this, nothing was done.
we just started and its still pritty small but its starting to get shape.
a new website has been created (very basic, wasnt me who maded in case some might wonder). here is the link: http://www.stovie.be/
for the moment, volunteers have donated some money, some shops have given some $$ so they can buy poolgear in there shop, some poolhalls have given them free playing time as long as they are in the youth cathergorie 24/7, Maurice from HOB weert has been so nice to give brand new Jenn Baretta cue as a first price , im donating the first price i ever won in a pooltournament to the kids, some players are donating small amounts going from $5 till $50.
now why im posting this is to see if other people oversea are interested in helping with gifts, donations etc.
now we cant give the kids pricemoney, so items are prefered but $ is very welcome too. (ps remember these are kids, they cant use a inflatable doll or so...) some have given webcams, just basic stuff kids like. the $ donated will be put into one account and will be used to pay the expenses of organising things etc.
if u arent very $ as me, u can help us by going to the link given above and klick on the links. every klick will give some cents. till now the links have given already a small 30€. so u can always just click them to suport.
If u wish to donate money, there is no paypall yet in plac, as ... well i dont think anyone expects people that arent belgium to donate. but i DO believe it is possible, so if anyone is interested, ill try to convince the board to start up a paypall acount.
if u wish to donate poolgear. even a simple glove, chalks, tip picks, ultimate pool tools, dvd's, books, whatever, feel free to pm me and ill give u all the details to where u can send it. maybe different people could send the items together to share the transport costs.
i remember when i just started playing, and i had posted about me using a housecue in a national championship cus i couldnt afford anything else,
people pm'ed about donating a cheap cue, so i DO believe some people are ready to help.
if u got anymore questions, feel free to pm me or post it here.
ill try to get maurice , who i think anyone will consider trustworthy, and tell here about the affort we are trying to do, so people can see that im not trying to rip off money , or use it for own use. he has alot more credit then i have.
well thats it; now if u think , nah to much trouble to send stuff etc, just klick on the links above the website, it takes 2seconds, and it will help to invest in the future poolplayers in our country.
a small example is this girl: Camilla, 11y old, she's been playing pool for 2months. she didnt even have a poolcue, and she just won the last NAtional Woman's Ranking event (not a youth ranking or so , as there is none, but the real deal). she can break and run racks in 8 and 9 ball, and she run a 32break vs my friend in her last tournament. Her sister is 7 and has a much talent as her 11y old sister. maybe this is the future wendy jans. i hope i made it clear to how important it is to invest in the future, and i know alot of posters here DO know this and suport cases like sending 1 person to a big tournament etc, so i hope some of u might help us, even if its in a small country most of you never heared off.
greats from solly.
PS this is the adres of the person responsible of the organisation and the prices etc. this is the adress where material donations can be sended. i will personally confirm in this post, when any donation will arive. I thank u in advance.
