Thanks for sharing pics and stories Linda...

Not to be nitpicky but I believe Gandy Valle's nickname is spelled "Yang Yang" not "Yung Yung" :)

V for Victory...and Vidas and Valle!

Final results:

1st - Mike Vidas
2nd - Gandy Valle (Yung Yung)
3rd - Brady Gollan (would not like to be there for the ride home with Vidas!)
4th - Mark Trainer
5/6 - Glen Atwell/Rob Saez
7/8 - Danny Medina/Santos Sambajon
9-12 - Raul Abenojar/Eddie Carrido/Teddy Garrahan/Claude Gauthier
13-16 - Alain Boutin/John Doherty/Vladimir Korzinin/Harry Platis
17 - Richard Burns

I really do not know how it's spelled, as I have never seen it written anywhere, I am only going on how it sounds. In fact, I thought everyone was calling him Yum Yum in Vegas.

Can anyone confirm how it's spelled? I know they are pronouncing it Yung Yung, because I specifically watched the Filipinos enunciate.

Thanks for providing the skinny on IPT Qualifier No. 6 in Seattle, Linda. Great reporting and, of course, the pictures are always a real treat for me. I enjoyed associating the players' names with faces. That pool room, the venue site, sure does look inviting with the large windows. It must be beautiful this time of year in Seattle.

That's horrible about Santos getting forfeited the first round. Last week, we too had thought the qualifier began at 12:00 noon, and I was surprised to learn that it actually did begin at 10:00 a.m. in the morning on the Friday. The times vary from qualifier to qualifier as far as start times, and it seems tragic to me at least to see somebody forfeited because they were unaware of when to arrive.

I hope Santos is utilizing his second-chance free entries as he travels the country competing in the IPT qualifiers. Time is running out, but I do hope he makes it to Vegas by winning one of these. IMHO, Santos is certainly a formidable opponent in any venue he steps foot in. I wish him good luck in the next one. I think there is a qualifier in Pasadena, CA this weekend, and it would please me to see him win it.

About the challenge table matches on two tables, Keith had actually wanted to play on two tables at once and requested this of the TD, wanting to move things along, but the TD decided to play the challenge matches one at a time. The reason Keith wanted to play on two tables at once was because Keith Bennett and Cliff Joyner, both challenge table selectees and out-of-towners, wanted to hurry up and do their challenge table matches, so that they could enter the Tiger/Planet Pool 9-Ball event beginning at 12:00 noon, a short 20 minutes away. As it turned out, they both were able to play in the Tiger tournament, with Cliff coming in second place and pocketing about $720 for his efforts.

I heard the qualifier in Atlanta is going to be a good one to see, attracting many aspiring players. I enjoy hearing about the nitty gritty of these tournaments, and reading your thread and seeing the pictures was a real treat for me. I tried to give you some good rep, but I got the standard message stating I need to spread it around some more, or words to that effect. :p

Yes, even Ryan Keller, the other IPTer from this area, failed to make it in time. He showed up at 7 on Friday night, thinking it was going to go on all night, when things were finished up at 6. And Dan Louie did not participate based on the projected times. Also, it was posted that play would start at noon on Saturday, but started at 10, and the opposite on Sunday - it was expected to start at 10, but started at noon. :( Since this was the first Q held here, hopefully things will iron out for the next one and we can be consistent.

Yes, I should have mentioned that Keith wanted to play on 2 tables. Keith on hyperdrive would have been a sight to see! I'm glad they got to finish up early and take off another tournament. ;)

I know your schedule last week was busy and most likely you didn't get a chance to read my thread: :p

AND then there's "Jenny from Maryland" on this link: :o

Only 15 more IPT qualifiers, Linda, and then the 50 players will be named. I sure do hope Santos gets in there. I think he will, and we'll be pulling for him for sure! :)

Oops, guess I did start to read your thread and never made it back. How did you get the pics to show up on the IPT website? I submitted all of mine and they haven't been posted. :(

We are really pulling for Santos too!
