Seeding in Vegas Tournement?

Does anyone know how the groups in the Vegas event are going to be selected?

I'm just curious if they are going to seed the top players or if it is a random draw. I'd guess that some seeding is going to take place.

I bet Sigel and Efren aren't in the same group in the early stages. :D
 
Only hearsay...

I spoke to an unnamed UPA Touring Pro last week who said that he had heard -- HEARSAY -- that the Vegas event will be seeded, that they will utilize the rankings from various pool governing bodies around the world to do so.

Personally, I'd like to see 'em throw all the names in a hat. :o

These players will be so psyched competing for the $2-million purse that it won't matter whose name they pull. My "Conquering Caesar" is preparing for a bloody war next month at The Venetian! :D

Now that would make a great appearance if he would show up in a limo like that. Pool cue in one hand - Sardo rack in the other.

The format is spelled out on the IPT website and I would hope it is seeded. That is the best way to get top players to the final days. Or would you like to see Reyes, Sigel, Bustamante, Manalo,Archer all in one group in the first round? I think the WPA seeds them. How did they select the players at the KOTH?

I talked with Lindsay the IPT and asked about seeding at the NA open in July.
She E-Mailed me back telling me that this tournament would be a random draw. I am guessing that future tournaments will be seeded.
If you look on the IPT website it does say that the touraments will be seeded
based on a players prize winnings. But, with this being the first tournament
in 2006 it will be a random draw.

That would be cool to film the "drawring" (:p ) of the player's names into groups. I think the draw should be done at the player's meeting like at WPBA events, and everyone gets to watch the drama unfold. See Efren, Bustamante, Parica, Orcullo, and Manalo or Pagulayan all get drawn into the same 1st round, lol.
 
If its random, I'm predicting that its going to be like the relative strength of the recent qualifiers turned out to be...top champions stacked in some of them, and a field of lesser players in others.

I like the idea of a live draw a lot, though. With the amount of money involved, the draw could turn out to be a huge factor. A live shot of Sigel hearing his first match is against Efren would be classic.
 
With a random draw we could potentially see some interesting results. I would love to see Efren and Sigel end up in the same group for the first round.
 
First match doesn't matter what matter is who all is in your group as each group plays round robin with best total advancing to the next round
