Language and cultural barrier
I've done practically no business on AZB, but I have shipped guitars all over the world. Yes, there are times when things get a little dicey, but I always take the language and cultural barriers into account. Direct and prompt communication is the key. If I'm selling to a customer, I'm going to make sure that the customer is well informed of my business practices. If I need a certain amount of time to review, research, or even contemplate, then I inform the customer when I will again be able to contact them. Regardless of what type of deal is brokered, there are steps that can be taken to protect both the buyer and the seller. I personally have had more issues with domestic sales than international ones.
Saying that you didn't slander someone due to the dictionary definition of the word is semantics. The fact remains that you brought a person's name into disrepute, with no justifiable reason. Your gut feeling or your thoughts about someone's intent, doesn't warrant your actions. Jekka's communications may have made you uneasy and may have made you feel pressured, but in the end, you lost nothing. You weren't wronged, you were just pissed off. In turn, you reacted immaturely and chose to degrade and debase his standing in the community. Our name is what many of us rely on to do business in this highly competitive world. Word of mouth advertisement, whether it be good or bad, spreads faster than any other form. You apparently utilized prudence and providence before the sale fell through, but it's truly a shame that you dismissed their use afterward. It's always good when we learn from our mistakes, however, it's not good when someone else has to pay the cost for them.
