Seminole Pro Tour- Which would you go to and why?

Joey

I'd like to pass on my view of which event you should help out -

the one at Capone's!

Rocky McElroy does so much for the players, the tours, and the community. He is always there smiling, shaking hands with people, adding in extra money to the events - sponsoring players - making sure that things are taken care of - he is a rare breed in our sport. I think it would be a good gesture to help out his event - he really goes above and beyond what is expected from a R/O - and he is TOPS in my book! Just a suggestion... food for thought.

Yes, this is the room we visited when you had that last minute airline layover in Tampa a couple of months ago. This is the tournament that you should attend.... imo

It always get a good turnout and while there are ample good players, there are a sufficient number of lobsters to make it worth your while. You can get action from roomowner Dan Lavoie, AZBers James Roberts, Donnie Mills and a handful of others.

Your friend can come sweat you into the money and watch your back, as usual.

Doug
( remember, I didn't let that Ted Ito shark you with that bag of popcorn move and had Scott Smith put it into a BOWL after I called it to his attention ) :)

*Just don't ask me to help you find a room, where should you eat, do I want to split your expenses, will I drive you around, go get you......ah, anything, etc.,etc., ETC.
Just play pool and let me nod off every now & then, OK ?

Mr. Tito and the shaking the popcorn around in the crisp paper bag :D . That was too cool. I had never seen that one before. At first listening I thought he had a set of maracas the way he could make noise with that bag and kernels.

You can do anything you want as long as you don't talk while I'm shooting, don't talk while I'm waiting to shoot and don't talk while I'm practicing and above all please don't talk when I am preparing myself to compete. If you interrupt I will forget where I left off with my mantra and have to start all over. Oh yeah, no chicken wings for you either. Buddy H told me not to let you go down that path either.

That's big for me, Blackjack. I have always liked Rocky although he and I have never spoken although we have seen each other a few tournaments.
We may have even played a match.

Excellent thought.
Thanks,

Joey,
WOW!!! I checked for you, and damn.

here is the bad news:

Deluxe-Free 2 x 1 Drink Coupons at Beach Club!

Cancellation Policy

Every 4th Night Free

Wed Thu Fri Sat
$399.00 $399.00 $399.00 $0.00

You might want to look for a local hotel near by.

Oh, I don't think $399.00 is all that bad. That's just a $100 per night and the convenience of being able to roll out of bed and get to the pool table in minutes is worth the extra expense.

I think he means $399 per night... Basically, some nights are cheaper than others, but it seems to be between $200-$350 a night depending on when you book and when you stay.

Yea i went on expedia.com and it is 399 a night for the first 3 nights and then saturday night would be free. So it's $1200 to stay there for that tournament.

In a few months when you can actually book a room on the hotel's website it may be cheaper then.

Good thing I know people down there! :)

BUT, as I did the same thing you did... :) if you want to book a room for this coming week, some nights are as low as $189... so maybe it's about waiting for the best price and hoping they don't sell out! (Good thing I live here and don't have to worry about that either:D :D )

I know that's what he meant. That's why I put the little Sarcastic smiley face way down at the bottom, but thanks.

BTW, the rates vary depending upon what nights you stay there and are sometimes in the low two hundred range. I managed to tweak the calendar to September but that's all.

All of the above! You can't go wrong with any of the FL rooms, especially Diamonds, Hammerheads, and Capones. These are all top notch rooms, with great owners and friendly staffs! All 3 have great tables, that are always kept up with, and the layouts are great in all three, you're never playing on top of each other!
So basically you just need to choose which time is right, because all the rooms are great!

I know what you mean, David - a couple of years ago I booked the Hard Rock for 3 nights during the WPBA Cuetec Classic - about a grand later - I figured I could have stayed at the Ramada (just down the road) for about 1/5 the price.

I've gone back a few times, and I have not stayed at the Casino - I've always been able to find a good deal elsewhere - that way I have some extra cash to spend (that's how us poor people travel).

2 years ago, I was able to find a room for $59 a night - about a 5 minute drive from the Casino - just off of I-95. Back when tye-dye was cool, I used to live in Hollywood. All that was there was a bingo hall, I think the Seminoles sold cigarettes too. As much as I love the place - and as much as I love the Seminole Tribe - it's out of my price range to stay upstairs. I do eat there, buy gifts - its a great venue to have a pool tournament!

priceline is the best choice imo, but you need to kinda know a few of the tricks on how to book. You can score a 4 and 5 star hotel through priceline for under a 100 a night most of the year in south florida. The last time i used them I got the westin diplomat oceanfront for 89.

here is a good information thread on how to use priceline
