Sex Change

no, an operation doesn't actually change the sex only the appearance

Actually, the Hormone therapy that's required and involved does change the person.

The person I knew that went to a changed state could not compete in the discipline of karate at the same level. It was at lessened level, and at a different discipline.

Your certainly entitled to your opinion but I could not disagree more. I think your claw example could not be more off, this is corrective surgery in my opinion. This is not just a whim or a lark there are emotional and physical reasons, that these people are dealing with.

However, I am not interested in debating the issue, it is obvious you have strong feelings and we will never agree. The original question, was would they be able to play and the answer is yes, and they have. As long as they meet the legal criteria our society had established to determine gender. As it is an issue not just in pool, but in many other areas.

I look at it this way, just because your born male, that does not make
you a man...the same goes for women. We are all born human, what we become in life is all about character, choices and integrity.

Cuemaker?!?!?!

I'm a frequent visitor to this site but rarely post anything. I know what your thinking - "Sex Change", WTF?

Anyway, I'm a player...pretty decent --> finished 13th in the U.S. Open, 11th in the 9-Ball at the DCC the same year, have won on semi-pro tours (Planet 9-Ball), can occasionally run 100 balls in straight pool, etc. Having said that, I know that I will never be able to make a living playing on the mens' pro tour. However, I think I could make a living playing on the WPBA tour. Now, I would NEVER, EVER to this but if I or someone like me got a sex change do you think they would be allowed to play on the women's tour.

I'm not that into pool..

Damn, you must be a plastic surgeon....or have had the change done yourself.

1. Not gay.
2. Would never have it done for any reason....I'm happily married with childern.
3. Just wondered if someone my speed or better (but has no chance on the men's tour) who wanted to be in the spotlight, live thier dream, or whatever could pull something like that off. Hell, the only place to do something like that (win prof tournaments on TV) is on the WPBA....we all know the men's side of things is pitiful to say the least.

No, I'm not a plastic surgeron and I am all woman! I just wanted to give a realistic and intellegent point of view to all men out there "with your speed"? who thinks they can just snap off all top woman pros if they had a sex change.

Why wouldn't you?

You think you'd play as good after all the medical/ chemical/ biological changes? How about after spending $100k+ on the whole deal...to play pool for living?! Let me be the first to laugh publicly at your thought. Haha.

Great criticism now me who is finishing school and has spent a considerable sum of money and time on education is debating those same issues.

Real sensitive remark genius.

It touched a nerve becomes people just coming out of school have been waiting a long time to finish and to apply their education in a specific industry, field or area. Since I have dedicated the time and effort I will apply it as best it should be used.

In the sex change case its best for increasing cash flow.

As a side note the some of the best things on the market were financed by questionable people. Case in point well you all know what I would cite.

I remember one "man" from Johnston City days who was a well known pool sucker. He could play a little, but never good enough to beat anybody.

Well he disappeared for several years from the pool scene, and one day I see "him" again at an amateur event, wearing a dress, make-up, long hair, the works. He had become a "she". This new "she" actually achieved some success as an amateuer woman player, winning a couple of titles.

It always seemed a bit strange to me, but I never said much about it until now. I do know there was some question about a similar player playing on the WPBA a few years back.

I have ran into (probably same player, but I will withold his/her name) a players in womens tourny when I used to live in CA and it was awkward to say the least. Girls shunned this player with comments and snickers and I don't have to tell you he/she wasn't exactly the crowd's favorite:( On a serious note, I do not have any negative feelings toward transgenders or homosexuals. I am just thankful I like myself the way I am and not having to explain myself to anyone for my choices.

Just Kidding, I think the example black-balled gave was quite a bit different from someone who just finished college.

Some people say that if you're a guy who eat too much EGGS and CHICKEN that it would increase your female hormones and are instrumental in the development of some female features, with the exception of the sex organ. Is this true?

I AM SO SORRY THE SUBJECT WASN'T ABOUT SEX CHANGE IN A SERIOUS VANE. I AM A ROTATING TRANSVESTITE WHICH MEANS I AM JOAN ON ODD DAYS AS WOMAN ARE ODD AND JOHN ON EVEN NUMBER DAYS. I HAD PROPOSED THAT I PLAY IN WOMAN'S TOURNAMENTS THAT START ON THURSDAY AS JOAN AND THEN AFTER I WIN, FORFEIT MY FRIDAY MATCH AND THEN KICK BUTT AS JOAN ON SATURDAY AND THEN FORFEIT THE SUNDAY MATCHES FINISHING 5TH. MY REQUEST WAS DENIED BUT WHAT THE HECK, I COULD ONLY DO THIS 4 TIMES THIS YEAR AS THERE ARE TOO MANY EVEN NUMBER THURSDAYS. I THOUGHT OF A SEX CHANGE BUT NOW I HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

JOHN/JOAN

You never had to explain to your mother, your choices of men????

I am kinda thought that you quoted me in error, though this thread is entertaining...and a topic that is much bigger than the context in whic it was raised, so...

I see no offensive matter in my post, just bringing to the fore that innumerable changes would be affected, also that a considerable sum would be spent to chase relatively small fiscal return.

Your statement, "...some of the best things on the market were financed by questionable people..." is not relevant here: assuming the venture was succesful, there would be no benefit that would extend to the public.

Ha, ha, funny. I never said I was a miss little perfect:rolleyes: And yes, I'm still having to explain some things, but having to expain yourself to your family and loved ones (friends) and wanting to fit in is just a part of life and is mutual for everyone-if you asked me. I was referring to going through life being judged and taunted by people who has no impact on your life or pursuit of happiness. And even having to deal with hate group.
