Sexual Dimorphism in Clueless Pool Players

Well at least you were able to find a spiritual path you could
live with. I have a couple of friends who never recovered
from Catholicism. I spent several hours one night trying to
convince one of them that he was agnostic & not an atheist.

Well in those cases I think it has a lot to do with the person or what comes naturally to them. I have pretty good understanding of why people do things it is just difficult to get it accross. I know plenty of women who don't like to assume a low stance because a). they don't want anyone seeing down their shirt, b). they don't want people looking at their ass.

But modesty doesn't come naturally to anyone, Cam.

Women (not all) often stand with their feet together anyways, it's not too much of a stretch that they would do so playing pool.

I'm talking about the right-foot-to-the-left-of-left-foot stance, left leg crossed behind right. You've seen it, haven't you?

There are many people who start doing silly things due to a false association.

Indeed, and in all aspects of life, not just pool. I am a helpless sucker for red hair of any shade, from strawberry blonde to auburn. Dates back to an unrequited love - OK, lust :o - in high school.

Right. I don't think many players realize how zen it is to " be in the zone".
I've found that when I can eliminate the inner dialogue, I can also
eliminate the outer distractions.

I don't know about Dhakala's thinking concening Zen, but mine seems similar and I've never studied Zen.

I wrote a whole pool book mostly about this very subject: why/how improving the self integrates with improving this pool shot. I use pool as a methphor for understanding self-integration and it's inevitable results, whether one chooses to consciously manage it or not. When this integration moves one toward happiness, the pool shot naturally improves, too, as it is merely another part of the whole self. What else could it do? And flip/flopped: the pool shot, if integrated honestly, can be used to improve the self, via the same connections.

Check out this post I just made in another thread that demonstrates an example of what I am trying so poorly to say here:

In just the past three weeks or so, my son has so convinced himself without any effort on my part. He was raised on pantheism, took a detour into egocentric Satanism in sixth grade, and is now in a healthy state of wonderment again.

For those of us who don't live in Tibet and aren't Buddhist monks, it's unclear what "escaping the Wheel of Samsara and attaining Satori" even means in relation to playing pool.

"Those of us" includes those of you who do not click on the links to unfamiliar terms that I supply, read their explanations, and exercise the uniquely human gift of logical inference.

Fortunately, those of you are legion. I am counting upon those of you for sales of my book, which so many here are helping me to write.

I may follow up on DVD, which seems to be lucrative for the likes of Bert Kinister. My Beloved Son, my apprentices, and I would look pretty interesting with shaven heads and saffron robes, with incense burning on a nearby bar counter. Certainly, one would not mistake our production for "just another pool instruction video." :D

I admire your ability to realize a deathwish faster than I can! :D

"Sexual" Dimorphism is being able to visibly tell the difference between males and females. In this case the author may be on to something. I can always tell the difference between males and females...well 99% of the time anyway. My personal favorite is the side hand bridge. I've noticed this also in very young males when they first start. It isn't long before thay make the transition.

How can I obtain a copy of this exciting-sounding book, Jeff?

You should meet "Penny," a perfectly baffling bartender of my acquaintance. I won a C-note betting on that one's original gender. :D

LOL!! Er, yes... well, I said up front that my observations have been biased by my heterosexuality.

You're not suddenly-ex Congressman Mark Foley, I trust? ;)

David, not all of us subscribe to the Buddhist way of life nor would we want to have it imposed upon us by others like yourself.

I have read some of the Buddhist beliefs such as the paragraph shown below. If this is what you believe in then maybe you're the one who is delusional and not us. :)
"The driving force of the wheel of samsara is our contaminated actions motivated by delusions, and the hub of the wheel is self-grasping ignorance. For as long as we remain on this wheel we shall experience an unceasing cycle of suffering and dissatisfaction, and we shall have no opportunity to experience pure, lasting happiness. By practising the Buddhist path to liberation and enlightenment, however, we can destroy self-grasping, thereby liberating ourself from the cycle of uncontrolled rebirth and attaining a state of perfect peace and freedom."

I would prefer not to use the Ignore feature. I do hope you will tone down your Zen-Buddhist preachings though. 'nuff said on that. :)

On second thought, I couldn't care less about your way of teaching pool. Consider yourself ignored. :D

Allen, being ignored by Flex and you is a crueler hardship than being ignored by airport security. Please, reconsider! :p

Its not fair to dump on all men! After all this is the opinion of one person!?!?

News flash: women don't play fair. :D

Witness their incessant whining about the alleged injustice that they earn much less than men for doing the same job. They unfairly ignore the financial facts of intergender relationships. We men have to get paid more for the same work in order to afford women!

Am I the only one here that thinks you can't play a lick of pool, you know it, and you hide it? Or do you think that you actually can play? You give advice to other pool players that will get them broke.

You are full of yourself. And by that I mean you are full of shit. Do you get off just thinking about this persona you've created in a message forum? Just letting you know that nobody buys it, and nobody gives a shit either.

The majority of everyone here thinks you are a dumbass. Hows that for some reality?

edit: Forgot to mention, if you are a crack addict, I take everything back. It's not your fault, it's a disease. Try to get some help.

I'm sure we'll see momentarily.

Do you always lose your manners when people don't share your sense of humor?

You give advice to other pool players that will get them broke.

Such as? I don't recall advising anyone to bet on you.

You are full of yourself. And by that I mean you are full of shit.

I don't think Mr. Wilson would appreciate that remark.

Poor. You were doing better at the beginning, when you wondered if you were the ony one who thinks your way, instead of declaring that everyone does. :p

The crack question. Answer the crack question before anything else.

And what manners? I never had them with you in the first place, therefore I never lost them.

And like it says in my last post, I was wondering if I'm the only one who thinks you can't play a lick, which of course is different from when I declared that judging from lots of other posts, nobody buys into your bullcrap persona. And alot of people don't like you already. Why? You act like a jerk.

I wrote, "marbles" originally, then remembered my manners. But since they are not needed when conversing with you... :p
