I had the pleasure of finally getting to meet the AZ Forum's own "sfleinen". Sean was on a business trip here in Dallas. He came over the house two different nights. We played a lot of pool. I will tell you that the man can play & on top of it. He is very knowledgeable. He knows the game. I enjoyed playing him & talking to him. I bet there were many of you out there that had their ears ringing....LOL Once again, I want to thank Sean for taking the time to visit. Really had a good time.

Okay. Out with it. What were the results?

We did not keep score. We just freely shot and had a great conversation, laughing all with a few beers to top it all off. We both had some good runs. I had a couple of 50's and I do believe that Sean had one at 42. He made two nice carom combo's out of the stack on me when I had left him safe up table.

Regardless of the scores from the games, it is great that you guys finally got to meet. take that entry off the Bucket List.

I am so jealous, we all have to make it a point from this time forward to all to get together !!!

Good Job Guys !

Sorry for the late entry into this thread, folks. Just recently got back, and am still recovering from travel, catching up on mail and other things in life that were on hold while I was away, etc.

I really enjoyed my experience at Mike's place. Folks, I have to say -- and I'm not afraid to brag -- Mike has the nicest billiards/entertainment room I've ever seen, and I've seen some really nice ones in my years (e.g. Mark Twain's room in CT). You *FEEL* it as soon as you walk in. All the pool nostalgia up on the walls and in cabinets, not to mention all the baseball memorabilia as well. For those folks that have a Facebook account, Mike posted a picture of us together, and you can see a "hint" in the background of what I'm talking about. Mike's place has reset the bar in my mind of what a dream pool/entertainment room would look like, if I were to try to recreate one.

Also, concerning the play itself, we were just "freestyle playing" 14.1, not even keeping score, except for runs themselves. Mike had some nice 50s and some great "read the rack" shots himself -- in fact, a funny scene was when I'd play safe on him and tick a ball in the rack, bringing the cue ball uptable, we'd both -- simultaneously -- see the result, and go, "uh oh, do you see that 7-ball? Yep, it goes off the 4-ball!" :D And of course, Mike would fire it in like it had eyes, splattering the rack in the process, sailing off on another run.

What's really great is when you get together with someone that feels like an old friend (separated by only distance), and you both root for each other, sharing rack-reading methods, possible shots, etc. -- on each other's turn at the table.

A fun time was had by all, and I'm looking forward to when it can happen again.

Love getting together with friends!

Curious

Can we have some photos or a video tour - the room sounds sweet - working on my own so trying to come up with new ideas.

Thank you

That room looks wonderful and that story was really wonderful - thanks for pointing it my way..

Here's the picture that you had posted on Facebook of Sean and yourself

Was it a short bus? And did he say bad things about me? I need details.

Nobody says bad things about you, MM. They may however, WRITE bad things about you !!!

Sorry I missed you this trip, Sean. Believe it or not, I STILL have not gotten over the effects of my pneumonia. Maybe next time.
