i'm considering having a shaft made (5/16-14). if i wanted the shaft to weigh 4.2oz and measure 12.8mm at the tip what would that cost? what would the turn around time be?

i'd prefer a conical type or really stiff pro taper kind of set up

The price would depend upon what the joint rings look like on you cue. Just a general price range would be around $150.00 and up.

$90 and up depending on the tip. Your choice of ferrule, except ivory(that's extra), taper, length, and diameter.

Click "professional cue repair" in my sign for full details and prices.

the ring work would be 2 silver rings (silver in color not actual silver)

i'm just looking for something that'll play really well. no so much a pro taper though. it's hard to put in words i guess.

From what I can see, it's going to be pretty tough to beat the playability of the shaft you've got. I'm just going by the 10 pie-splices I see at the joint and have no idea what the front-end looks like.
No matter though, you know what you want.

You might give Paul Sumrall (sonofthunder) a call. I've got one of his parabolic shafts which is 12.8 and 4.3 ounces. Absolutely great hitting shaft.

That's a united joint. If you like the Mezz taper, just have someone mic it, and try and duplicate it. I would, however, not go anywhere else except Mezz for anything related to their own products.

I don't think you can get that insert or joint set up from anyone else besides them.

i've thrown a schon shaft on my mezz before so it shouldn't be too big a deal. i'm pretty sure i've got a cue maker picked out now.

thanks everyone

Hey Poolplayer,

Why do you want another shaft over than the WD700?

-WD700 hit's solid
-has low deflection
-Mezz quality

the Mezz HP2 is a little heavier than the WD700, but to me has a very slightly softer hit.
I still prefer the WD700.

Maybe he wants to Buy American like his bottom line motto says.

i'm looking for something that's 12.8mm+

Hint: You can get any Mezz shaft done for you at the size you want. It will cost you extra and wait at least 2 months. That is if your Mezz Dealer is willing to go the extra mile.

i've talked about getting some customized mezz stuff a while ago. seems like if you live in the states it's real hard to get done
