Shaft ID Balabushka?

Hi all. I have been sitting on two shafts that I purchased back in 1984. They came with a bundle of cues, shafts etc I purchased from a player/collector back then. They both have Ivory ferrules and he told me they originally belonged to his Balabushka that cracked. Does anyone know where I can get these ID'd and if they are infact Bushkas then I would prefer them to go to an owner of a Bushka cue. Any pointers please? I would post pics if someone wants to show me how.

OK... here's the best two of the four that you sent me. The other two are too out of focus imo... but I'll post 'em if you want me to.



 
Pete Tascarella is probably the best bet to authenticate these. You should have a letter of authenticity made for them if they are Balabushkas. Measurements and careful examination will be required.

Ok great. How do I contact Pete? Anyone know before I go scalping the net. Thx. Also what I have discovered in my research that help authenticate these is the size of the rings. They appear to truly be nickel rings and ticker than say on a schon etc. The ivory ferrels have georgeous lines in them and are aging nicely. Still somewhat white after 25 plus years. The finish has been sanded and waxed per usual use as shown. All those interested I am looking to move these as I do not have a Balabushka and am a firm believer in keeping things together that belong together. I am not out to get anyone but am out to put these shafts where they belong. Cheers! Laz

Pete would be the first choice, as he "took over" Balabushka's equipment and building inventory (so to speak). You could also try Richard Black if Pete is not available.

I don't think there is a man on this planet, that knows Balabushka's better than Bill Schick. I would contact him. ;)
 
OK, got a reply from Richard Black who looked at the photos and states he needs to see them in person to be certain. SO I may have to send them to him. Arrrrrrrrg. :banghead:
 
Somewhat of a crapshoot, Laz... but think of it this way. They likely are (check out the other thread here about "My Balabushka" and compare shaft collars... I did).

And if they are, have Richard clean them up and give you a letter of authenticity.

Just a thought.

Even though the pics are out of focus, and I would have to handle them in person to be sure, they just don't look right to me.

I'm guessing they are 29", and if they are, they are almost certainly not Bushka shafts.

Don't forget Paul Rubino as an expert. He would be my choice.

Yikes!!!

Should have put some kind of separator between the experts and the dunderhead.
