What is your ideal taper of the shaft?
You want some flex, but not too much?
Or, You want little flex? A very solid hit?

I like 12.75 to 13 mm, pro taper about 12 to 15 inch.
I don't like the shaft to get thicker in my closed bridge,
as I stroke thru the cue ball.

The overall hit of the cue should have a degree of resonate (vibration) ?

Or Should it hit like a lead pipe?

Any input?

The hit is very subjective. Some WANT the solid hit. Some WANT a hit not so
solid.

I don't know Jack about shaft tapers

Is there a chart with standard tapers and dimensions?

I don't like that no-taper taper .
A taper on rifles and handguns make them "pointable".
The straight-barrel taper is also prone to warping.
The middle of the shaft is better when it's fatter than the front.
At 12.75MM tip , my preference would be 14MM to 14.25MM in the middle .

I use a closed bridge also and I don't like the taper changing in my stroke.

I don't like a cue that hits like a lead pipe. I like a cue that gives "feedback" when you hit the ball. Not everyone likes the same feedback.

I prefer a shaft to be 13mm as a minimum.

I don't think you will find a chart with ready defined tapers, everyone has their take on what is the best taper, but as you say a pro taper has a long slender taper the first 12" to 16" or so.
Some shafts have a almost silly long taper, making the end of the shaft look like it boulges out.

Sorry to hear about your cancer. I hope the chemo works.

I have a one shaft that I don't like...to hard for me, even though it has the pro taper....It's an older shaft made from some very dense maple.....I bought it from a friend... that got it from Jim Buss....I like a pretty stiff hit, but not that hard.
