Shaft Weight???

I believe I saw Pat Fleming use a removable "shaft weight" for a shot over a ball in his match against Steve last weekend. It looked like it fit around the shaft and seated half way down - think of a doughnut on a baseball bat type of set up. The additional weight on the front would tend to keep the shaft down better and not pop up off the ball on contact/follow through. Was I seeing things or did he really use one of these? I searched and Google has never heard of a shaft weight before. If anyone is familiar please let me know and where you could buy one or how you can make one. This would help me out a lot!

Thanks,

Ron,

This is true, pat did you a weight on the shaft....and it really does work !

Pat let me try it afterwards, it works great. it helps keep the cue down when you are shooting over a ball. there is a little insert inside of it to protect against harm to the shaft.

years ago Pat designed the little gadget and was selling them, and when i asked him he said he still has some left. according to him, they are perfectly legal. if you give him a call i am sure he can set you up with one.

i am gonna call him a few days before the worlds and ask him to bring me one.

Didn't Pat Fleming also come up with the first effective jump cue. I read somewhere that the key to his discovery was balance on a shorter cue. Later he fashioned a butt handled out of balsa wood so others wouldn't discover the secret to his fantastic jump ability.

Can anyone post a picture or a diagram? Thanks.

hi there,

nice idea of course- but i would prefer a really good old-grown shaft. I m also playing usualy with a bit more european-shaft- and with a good old grown shaft the shaft will be still between 3,7-4 oz, even with the diameter i prefer (12,25)
That s a good weight for me imo.
