wood not the maker

i believe the wood used is more important that the builder. a great maker cannot build a great shaft without the great wood. that having been said, most great builders go to the trouble to find the correct wood.
i buy old brunswick one piece cues from a table restorer 100 at a time. i get nearly all of my shaft wood from recycled cues. i get sometimes as many as 7-8 great shafts out of 100 old cues. i believe the 50 plus year old wood is some of the best in the world.
