Hey, isn't this a Chuck Truesdell thread? Why would anyone post another supplier in here and let it continue to stray off topic? That is not cool.
I will say that I have purchased shaft wood, handle wood, curly from Chuck, and I have never had a problem. I even turned a few shafts down to playing size (just to try out) in a matter of a week and it didn't warp. Of course, I would never sell those shafts, but, this shaft wood is just quality wood. They play better than any shaft wood I have tried period. I think part of that has to do with the taper, but you gotta have the good wood to begin with. Any of the others I have turned down over time have stayed perfectly straight.
Very straight grained, he had qualities of all kinds, including different price break downs for different levels of wood. If you are interested, I would just contact Chuck himself and try some out. A local cue maker from around here has been dealing with him for years now, and that is how I got his contact info. I thought that was one of the luckiest things that happened to me in my cue making journey.
What is good to know, is that Chuck's specialty is this business of maple and he really knows his stuff. It is what he does. Some other places do cues and wood, or any kind of wood, but Chuck is a maple man and more specifically a maple shaft man. If you need something and it is maple, Chuck is the man.
