I just got back from the Iowa state pool tournament. Shane was there playing in the ProAm. I watched him play 18 games. He missed ONE shot in those games. He is quite amazing. If you ever get the chance to see him play I would highly recommend dong so. Jess Bowman was there. Shane tried to get him to play some 9 ball or 8 ball but Jess would not have any of it. He told Shane he would play him one pocket for anything he wanted. They ended up going to Miller Time Billiards and playing. You had to win by five and Shane took $2500.00 off him in a hour and half. they played again the second night and Jess won. they were suppose to play angain last night but I had to leave and do not have any results for that.

Jesse should have KNOWN better.

I watched Shane play Justin Cone at DCC, and I could SWEAR Shane was laying down for quite a few hours to make it look like Justin had a chance playing Shane even.

Why is it funny?

I watched the race to 100 with Corey. Shane kicked much better than Corey, who is KNOWN as being a very good kicker, even by pro standards.

So, to beat Shane at One Pocket, you have to run 8 and out every time you see the edge of a ball, and if you do trap him, he's going to kick safe a huge percentage of the time.

On top of all that, Shane is a SMART poolplayer. Watching him in the matches of his that I have, he plays a verrrrrrry intelligent game. I expect that he has picked up One Pocket extremely quickly, and probably plays a lot better than the "gamblers" out there think.

Assuming that he has no knowledge of the One Pocket game, just because one has not seen him play, is not overly smart. I have watched him play One Pocket, and seeing the way he played safe in 10 ball against Corey, compared to the way he played safe against Justin Cone in One Pocket, I am 95% sure that he was laying down a bit.

I am 95% sure you dont what the hell you are talking about.

One thing Shane does not need to do is lay down in a game that he is a dog in. There were more than a few smart gamblers who wanted nothing to do with that game. So much so that Shane put all of his own in the middle. If he was stealing don't you think all the backers would have been lined up with money in hand?

You should not insult a good kid when all you have is conjecture and bullsh!t. It's not right. Shane doesnt HAVE to lay down, go on the lemon or any of that other crap because he has heart and is not afraid to take a tough game.

Easy Big Guy!

Maybe "laying down", was too strong a word, but I think there was room for Shane to play a bit harder in the beginning, but he didn't need to, because it didn't look like Justin was putting that much heat on him.

Seemed to me, the game stayed fairly even for a long time, and then, within an hour or two, Shane had the cash! :D Justin could have dogged it at the end because he was tired, or Shane could have decided it was time to step it up a notch. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

And for the record, when it comes to playing a VERY good player (Cone), I see NOTHING wrong with holding a little back, in case you need it later, or to tire the other guy out with a long session. It was never meant as an insult, JCIN... :)

I hung out with mostly pros, Gabe, Corey , Shane ,mark tad, scott frost and on and on. In the one-pocket portion shane and scotty played each other and shane was no underdog. He could have won. in the match scott played safe4 times in a row,and shane made all 4. Scott sayes if I'm going to loose it isn't going to be playing saftey. scott shoots and wins. Shane spent time playing with Cliff Joyner,Alex . He couldn't get any better matches. Yesterday at the poolhall everybody was saying shane just isn't having to play any of the real good players since the ipt bust. I brought up when shane came to town he was running 5-packs in 8-ball.And he does have the break that mike Sigel, and Nick Varner used to make them unbeatable at times. And one of these local ex-pro got smoked 2 days in a row( for a few thousand ). I hope there is a lot more to come for Shane. If he wasn't beating them we'd never hear a peep. And shane won the other award for the person in the most action as well. mark
