Shane vs. Fedor

A little off topic, but as i was reading this, i was trying to remember if Fedor had a "pool" nickname ? I dont think i have seen one for him.

I like Shane in this match, but it is close. Fedor is great, and he definitely grinds himself out of bad situations, but he also put himself in those bad situations. In a long race, i feel he could put himself behind once too many to catch back up to Shane.
People were trying to tag him as "the Ghost", but not sure it stuck.

Any idea when this starts each day.?

What about viewing after the match? Is that available?
Looks to be 6 pm starting time.

X-Pool says the event can be watched on demand at any time. They still have past matches up on their site that can be bought.

Being a relative newcomer to pro pool, an event like this is a bit of an eye opener. I know they happen, but this is the first big one I've actually followed since it was announced.

Gorst evidently had some back or neck issues last year. If I thought he was fully healthy, I would lean toward him. He is playing better than anyone in the world and is incredibly precise and efficient. SVB uses more energy and sooner or later his age will catch up to him more.

I do wonder whether MR should actually promote extended individual matches between top players around the world. Call it the Strongman competition, but do races to 50. Have an individual winner each year. Start the annual comp with 8 or 16 top players.

Seems like a good way to make more money and get more attention.

fedor has had back issues a long time but still gambled long matches

tony chohan and roberto gomez just had a challenge match where they played best out of 5 sets like in tennis
it would be interesting to see fedor and shane play races to 25 or 35 or some other number as a set
and the first to win 3 sets wins
this way if someone has a bad set and gets beat 25-10 lets say that sets over and they dont have to make up 15 games
each set has its own pressure

Hey Doc! Yeah, the best of 5 sets format is one I really like. It's good for the viewers too because the suspense is always there.

One thing these long races do is create a ton of pressure. When you play best of five sets you know you can lose a set and still win. But in a race to 120 you don't want to fall behind 15+ games because you know you might be just getting hammered on for two days in a nearly lost proposition with nowhere to take cover. So if one player goes on an early tear and gets up 20-10 then the player who is down is going to feel a level of heat to respond that is beyond anything we'd see in a race to three set format. The long set has the length of a marathon and the continuous pressure of a finals match.

Both are good for me. Let's get it on!

Now closer to start, both don't sound so confident  Gorst says it is flip of coin, doesn't think Shane breaks better than him. Says Shane wanted magic rack, 4.25 inches pockets

This is just a guess but they probably didn't play multiple sets because you can win more games than your opponent and still lose the money. If you win two sets 21 - 15 but lose three sets 21 - 20 you have won 102 games to your opponents 93 but he's walking away with the money.

Excited to watch my first long race. I like Fedor by 10 games. Youth and efficiency win out.

Curious to see the playing pace. I did wonder if a match like this should have a 45-second shot clock or something, but I would assume the players will get on with it and not impersonate Albin Ouschan.

I listened to the podcast with Fedor. He was being polite, imo, but really seemed to convey the feeling he thinks he is going to win. Both are being sportsmen.

Kudos to Fedor for having the 🎱 to challenge Shane, and the same for SVB for accepting.

I wish these PPV streams had chromecast support or there was some way to watch them via YouTube or some sort of app I can get on my TV.

I don't want watch on my phone or iPad and am not going to use my work computer (don't own a personal computer). If I could easily get it onto my TV I'd be way more likely to drop the cash for it.

I wondered the same. I am going to try to throw it from my ipad to my TV. My Ipad is the 13-inch pro, though, so easy to watch on a tablet of that size.

If you find a good solution post it up here, I'd probably buy it if I can cast it to my tv somehow
