Thats 5 of the last 6 years now. He beat Appleton twice in the finals. Klatt put him on losers side earlier in tourney.

he beat Appleton 2 times in the final? what do others need to beat him?

going on the loser side means he must play more matches, but still manage to beat Appleton back to back. that's ridiculously good.

Some people at the tournament are of the opinion that SVB cheated in racking and screwed Darren royally. It is NOT my opinion and I am only a messenger.

please tell more, a messenger should deliver the whole message, clear and detailed :p

I love how SVB went for only 3k in the calcutta. Such easy money. If he came in FOURTH, which would be shocking, you would still get your money back. As it ended up, with him winning again, which a lot of people predicted, the calcutta paid 9k. Just an incredible money maker.

Loser breaks... Really??

In past years, the event was winner breaks, race to six. One ball on the spot. A referee/racker was provided. Some years they used the Sardo rack. Just imagine Shane in that format!!!! Even I, a short stop at best, have beat past winners six zip. The old format sucked. Doesn't look like the new one is much better. Same old problem named Shane :D .

Does this concept blow your mind?

With loser breaks and a magic rack, there are no excuses. If SVB is being accused of cheating, I would love to know how he cheated.

I never said he cheated.

I was surprised to hear about "loser breaking". Never heard of it before is all.

I was there and no such thing happened.
First off they were using the magic rack
This was not a rack your own, you rack for each other and racks were inspected for straightness and tightness.
The ONLY rack BS that was going on came from King Kong (placed 3rd)
He would constantly rack "High and slightly crooked" to the point were the tournament Ref. was constantly having to check King Kong's racks.

I never used the magic rack and I know nothing about it. The people who thought that shane was cheating tried to explain to me how a lose spot can be created with the magic rack and what happens as a result. I could not comprehend what they were saying and all I know was that they were saying he cheated.

After the tournament was over, one of the players that was placed in top 10 in that tournament told Shane in a sarcastic manner about the way he was racking. Shane dismissed it with a smile and walked away.

During the last year's Rum Runner tournament it was "Rack your own". A player from the club I go to pointed out what shane was doing when he was racking the balls for himself to break and after that the others including me noticed and started paying attention to what he was doing on the rack.
