I think you can bet some pretty long money Shane's not playing with anything but a Cuetec butt and some custom makers shaft.

Shane's former cue had a long pro taper on it. Does the cuetec have the same taper and is it a fiberglass shaft or something else?

It is a Cuetec shaft. I looked at it and it has Cuetecs mark on it. You can tell it is not a custom shaft.

I think Shane could play with almost any cue and play good. The guy is just so talented, but there are cues out there that would slow him down some.

Earl Strickland proved that you can win with a cuetec cue and if you ever get a chance to see the video of Earl vs Efren in the race to 120 in Hong Kong for $100K winner take all you will see the best 9 ball you've ever seen. Earl played with a white Cuetec and Efren played with a Meucci!

If the player likes the taper of the shaft...and the tip...they can get used to and play good with anything. You just have to put the hours in. There is no magic wand....

Some of best pool I've seen played was with stock cues (Meucci, Schon, McDermott, etc). Anyone can buy a cue and have your repair guy taper it like you want it...or if you like a Predator (which I do) you can just but it and go to town.

Shane could get any cue and with a few days of practice be playing world class with it after fine-tuning the taper and getting a tip on there he likes.
