I ran into Shane at the BCA trade show this year, he had just got out his new cue(it looks like a bass fishing leurere-the shiny thing with hooks on it you use to catch fish), sorry i still cant spell....:embarrassed2:


anyways he was fireing in balls with it at the entrance of the trade show in the Cue Tec booth, I asked to hit a few balls with it, and It played real good, i mean REAL good, I was impressed. Shane said he liked it, he has to say that because he is paid to do so. But since he is my friend I'm sure if he didnt like it he would have said so to me privatly. He didnt, he really does like it. And it sure has worked good for him the past 2 days. I dont know if he is still useing the same exact cue I hit balls with he might have found one he liked better, then again might be the same butt, my point is, the cue he representing is a great playing cue and he really likes it, he just isnt playing with it for a pay check.


I'm really happy to see this cue work for him and I hope Cue Tec sells a pile of them as a result. Its nice to see something in pool work on both sides and it looks like Shane and his new cue sponser are going to have a bright future.
 
i think it'll be a shot in the arm for cuetec. he's a step up in class from earl strickland for sure. i can't imagine seeing him miss a shot and snap his cue or throw a tantrum. hell i can't really imagine him missing a shot

For sure it will be, Shane will be on board with them for a long time.

I'm not going to comment on Earl, other than to say I have awalys liked him, the times we have talked he has awalys treated me nicely and I like to see him happy and at peace with himself. I was out of the pool scene for most of the time Earl had his contract with them, I remember when he signed up and had a white cue-it loooked like a flourcent light tube.

On the square that cue does play nice, I ahve been lucky enough to play with alot of cues over the years, and finally the production guys are building cues that approach the feel of custom cues. So for poeple who dont want to spend $2000+ on a cue, they can get real close to the feel of a big dollar cue for a reasonalable amount of $$$. I have 2, 10 year old Cue-Tecs and they suck, I mean really suck. The new ones are 1000000000% better.
 
My first 2 cues were an Earl Strickland autograph Cue Tech and a Scorpion.
They were great cues. If I hadn't found AZ and the wonderful world of cuemakers, I'd probably still be using them. And I'd have alot more money too.
 
I played with a strickland for years and loved it. I still have and still love it. I shoot with a predator now and I like the way it feels. However, I have had to get the ferrule replaced twice in two years and it comes unscrewed pretty often. To make matters worse predator is not going to warranty my shaft anymore. :mad: So if the ferrule cracks again or it just will not stay together if I don't have the cash for a John Parris it will be a cuetec. Nothing has ever gone wrong with my cuetec.

JA has given me a couple of his old Scorpion cues, he has to change to new models from time to time, He tunes them up a little from bone stock, thats no secret but WOW do they play good, I have let alot of people/pllayers try them and most everyone is suprised, JA can play with anything though he had a Schon that weighs 22 oz and he beat the world with that cue. The most recent Scorpion cue he has used for over a year is real light maybe in the 17oz range-i'm not sure if he switched, i think he did.
 
Shane's former cue had a long pro taper on it. Does the cuetec have the same taper and is it a fiberglass shaft or something else?
 
My question is what the heck was he breaking with??
It sure worked well.
 
He used all cuetec cues this weekend even the break cue. He claims the stick he played with will cost about $150 and will be available soon. I imagine the break cue will cost a similar amount.

I'm buying some cuetecs damnit!
 
Shane with Cue-tec, wow Congrats Shane, but is he really using a Fiberglass coated shaft?

He hopefully won't break cues when he misses and have fight with the crowd like someone else that use to represent Cuetec...and it wasn't Allison.

His break cue was a little heavy to me, but he has the best break in the world, bar none. Shane is a nice guy and a gentleman on the table and he handles himself with class. He is going to be a superb role model for the younger generation of kids coming up. It is a shame pool can't be filled with a whole bunch of SVB's and Chris Bartrums. I know there are more out there but these two really handle themselves with class on and off the pool table. I wish Shane the best of luck and hope Cuetec keeps him around for 20 plus years.
 
I don't know if you have seen it, but, If you watch this >clip< it shows his new break cue and playing cue. I didn't get to watch the TAR match so I don't know if this was the actual BC or not.

I like SVB because there seems like there is no bs to him. Even when he is doing an interview, he just answers the question and that's that. If it takes him only 4 or 5 words to respond, then that is what he says. Next question.
 
The CueTec seems to work ok for him. :groucho:

Jay said a couple years back that Shane is the real deal. That's it. He is.

He's a down to earth, solid, good guy... just a good guy.

He will be the moving force in the resurgence of pool and he won't have to DO anything, except play lights-out, and continue to just be himself.
