I've always thought that the old JOSS and SCHON cues played really good - and I guess Shane is proving that. You know it isn't Shane doing that....it is the cue. He found the magic formula. Runde Schon butt with a Gold letter Joss shaft.

Taaa-Daaaa!! The cat is out of the bag. :)

It was, but he made a switch recently (USOPEN).
He kept the motor and just put it in a new car.

Ohhh I see....

I started a thread asking about this last week, and was pointed toward TAR's website....

Any pics of the Schon?

I remember seeing it in a pic, but the main site is down right now and I can't go looking.

It was his mom's Schon. She said, in an AZ post, that Shane "borrowed" it about a year ago and never gave it back.

It is the Indian, not the arrow. He could geta cue out of the audience and still play good.

Are you kidding me?

Come on....without that magic cue formula Shane would be about a 6 in the APA. Get real!

I wonder if the guys over at Schon sent SVB a congrats on the US Open and a "thanx for using your Moms Schon cue to win....now heres a 1of1 for you, so your Mom can have her cue back? :D

Gerry

ps...I know they sent me NOTHING when i won my last event with my SCHON! ;)

That won't happen. Schon has never endorsed a player before. They made a custom cue for Archer, but only at the request of CueStix International, who was sponsoring Johnny at the time.

He played good with the joss and now he plays good with the schon. Give him something else and he will play good with that. I does take time to get used to a different cue.

Look at Earl he is playing with a low deflection shaft and is still one of the best shotmakers out there. Earl was always against the low deflection products.

They do give some of their elite cues to players that play with their cues for them to sell and promote the product. I know for a fact they gave several cues to James Walden in the 90's because I helped him sell a few of them.

Same Shaft - Different Butt. I think the only difference is the thickness of the butt.

I could be wrong but I believe Jimmy Wetch has received a few cues from Schon.

You guys

have got to get over the Indian and Arrow thing. When players pick any ole cue, they make sure it has a good tip, and the shaft is tapered halfway decent. Yes, although they can perform good, they do not perform at their normal level they would with their own good equipment they possess.

The equipment has to be marginally good for them to perform, and high quality equipment usually yields better results for top players.

I have played 46 years, and have done both several several times.

My brother was a Champion Archer in his day, 7 state titles, mid-west nationals, 11th in the world, but I seriously doubt that he could have accomplished that with 'any ole bow and arrow', but he did with a high precision compound bow, the best arrows, and trigger release, and a top scope.

I agree, if the cue doesn't make a difference the top pros would just play with house cues. A smart Indian chooses his arrow carefully.

I was just kidding buddy.

OK, here is the real deal on Shane's cues:

Shane's mother is secretly a Greek goddess. When Shane was born, she dipped his right arm into the river Styx. Then, when he was 12, he was made to climb Mount Olympus, and there found the sacred lance, Sceptre Joss. Upon slaying many victims with the sacred sceptre, he visited his mother, and found the enchanted scabard Schon. He combined the tip of the Sceptre Joss with the Scabard Schon, and created the new weapon "Stricklandslayer".

Haven't we heard enough about Shane's cue? I mean, really, are you going to go out and buy a Joss or a Schon because Shane uses one? People, give it up. Let the man play pool. Who cares what he uses. He plays well. No one asks what kind of violin Paganini played with, because the talent was within him, not the instrument. I'm sure if you gave Shane a Cuetec, he'd learn to play with it.

Geez ya'll. I was just kind of kidding around when I started this thread.

There is no doubt Shane could acclimate himself to anything. It was all in good fun. YIKES!
