yeah i know ... that is why i just abandoned pool in that town and just drive 2hrs ..

Back to topic, doesn't anyone else think the grey is better when watching a match on a computer or cell phone?

No, I strongly dislike the gray. Pool on TV is vibrant and attractive due to the colors, gray almost seems to mute the color of the balls. For me its not any more difficult to see ball colors on blue than it is on gray.

Personally, I like the Shark Grey. It really gives nice contrast and I can see the ball colors and van identify them clearly, especially on my Android. I think they could go back to the traditional color balls now. I wasnt against the new colors, just don't love them.

The Grey looks good. I never got crazy about the blue. Tourney green was always my favorite, but the grey is growing on me.

You talk about pool being on life support, take away league players and watch it die quickly. When you say iron city alabama, are you talking about Iron City Billiards in Birmingham, or the actual iron city?
 
The controversy re: ‘non-traditional’ cloth (and ball) colors is, I suspect, deeper than mere resistance toward change. There is a subconsciously soothing sense of comfort associated with ‘lawn green’, and the change to ‘tournament blue’ was likely more easily accepted since heavily used cloth eventually became such, due to embedded chalk dust (‘comfort’ maintained). Familiar colors are subconsciously reassuring. As if there weren’t enough distractions in modern pool rooms today, confusion over which ball is which only adds injury to insult.
BTW: Ask any ocean swimmer how ‘shark gray’ affects him when that fin is spotted nearby. Not a color that inspires serenity (IMHO).
 
P.S. I’ve always been curious about why (back in the day) poolroom card (and craps?) tables were typically covered with green cloth. Was it the ready availability of old/reused billiard cloth? I never played cards with the old men in the poolhall’s back room then, so don’t know if the cloth was fresh. If indeed new, maybe just the availability of that cloth supply source?

Green is easy on the eyes, has good contrast with the balls to see them and is a traditional color since the game came from outdoor games and grass is green.
 
The Tournament Blue, to my eyes, is too bright when the lighting is bright. With table lights that are dim, or a yellower light source, it's ok. Florescent or incandescent, as well as the different color temperatures of LED'S makes a big difference.
