I think you are misinterpreting his message. I think he's just self-reflecting on his life experiences thru the song and trying to send the message that Jesus should get all the praise. In Mikes eyes, through Jesus, he was able to do what he has and Jesus deserves the credit. Jesus should be signing autographs not Mike, which Jesus would never do of course.
... it depends on what lens you view the message. Listen to it again from the my perspective above and what I believe is Mikes true intentions.
Gave it another listen from a different perspective and I did misinterpret the message. He’s not saying, “I am a legend,” but rather “people call me a legend.” He’s not showing videos of his charitable work in these different places; he’s showing pool shots to highlight pool as his vehicle to spread the Good News. Folks recognize him for his pool game not his works and he responds by signing the cues with a profession of faith. Yeah, shame on me, I was way off base.
Thanks for your perspective and understanding, Jason and Island Drive. Jay, good on you for sticking up for your friend. Y’all got me thinking. I should have done a little more of that before I busted out my jump to conclusions mat. Sounds like I need to heed another warning from Matthew’s gospel and take the dawg-gone plank out of my own eye before I worry about a perceived speck in my brother’s.
