Yup, trying to sneak ivory overseas is just not worth the consequences, as losing the cue would likely be least of your worries.
To do it on the up and up, you would need to have rock-solid documentation showing that the ivory is pre-ban (which is unavailable 95% of the time), and also get special approval from both the exporting and importing countries, which is not easy for individuals to get.
