I posted this question on another board & I'll ask it here also. I have 4 customers who are asking me to ship my BLACK HEART cues to Singapore. Besides the shipping costs are there any pit falls in shipping there. I have nevr had a problem shipping to Europe, but have never shipped to Singapore. THANKS...JER

I've used US Postal EMS and airmail parcel post with no problems. I prefer EMS, as there is tracking info and free return reciept.

to Singapore

Singapore is not a problem country. It's sort of like the Switzerland of S.E. Asia. Take a cue from the U.S. Post Office, they use a private postal delivery for special deliveries throughout S.E. Asia. In Singapore they use Singapore's postal services. Also, when it comes to financial aspects, Singapore ranks around third or fourth largest as an international financial center.

I use the U.S. Porst Office, insure my packages, get seven day deliveries and pay less than half some of the designer postal services. Good luck...jack

I have gotten orders from the other direction..(Singapore/Philipines to USA) they have used a shipping system powered by xendexpress.com

so far no problems..hope it helps

Just don't take a credit card as payment. Get the $$$ first, then ship.

For all of the Qs that I have shipped to Europe I have asked for thr money(US), be sent Western Union BEFORE shipping...JER

Be sure and keep up that policy as Singapore has some sending out the same type of letters wanting to use stolen credit card info as Indonesia and Nigeria are famous for. I have sent stuff to Indonesia and Singapore, but required money order or Western Union before shipping.

I agree. I get requests 2 or 3 times a month from people in that area saying they have seen my website and asking about buying cues. I never bother answering and just delete the message. I might be loosing a sale but it's not worth the gamble.

hi i thought i covered this b4 ..

I would first appreciate if Singapore is not lumped together with Nigeria and Indonesia. We are one of the strictest law enforcing country in the world, bar none. nobody here gets away with scams, murder, kidnap whatsoever, even if u happen to be George Bush golf buddy. We are one of four Asian Economical Tigers and got our "Developed Nation" since 80s. And we boasted the No 2 busiest port in the world as well was once the No1 airport..

70% of the pool players here in Singapore are students, so make sure u take a deposit, thats all i would want to say... unless the cue is pretty standard and u are sure u can sell it if someone doesnt take delivery. The custom pool cue scene here is still pretty immature.

Anything that declared over 200us and ships into Singapore the buyer has to pay a 5% GST. So this will determine how much u may want to declare your insurance. Obviously if u want to declare 200usd u cant insure the cue for 500.

I am sorry you are offended, but there are some in your country that have started using the same credit card scam that Indonesia and Nigeria are famous for. It is not as wide spread. I will also say there are some here in the USA that steal paypal and ebay account info then sell items they don't really have and then disappear. Your are left with nothing but to leave some poor guy bad feedback who did not even know his ebay account was hijacked. To avoid getting your info stolen never respond to any letter "from ebay or paypal" asking you to update your account or telling you a new email address has been added or any other type of link that requires you to sign in. This is not a knock on your country, but I feel we all need to look out for thieves where ever they live. Yes we have them here in the USA and you have them there. I go to church with several Nigerian people who have moved to the states and they are very honest good people. But they do have a very small bad element in their country that is very active. There are some in Singapore following that lead. How would we report to your government when someone there tries to give stolen credit card info? That would be nice to know since you say they will prosecute it.

INTERNATIONAL CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS:

Over the years I have shipped many products all over the world using an INTERNATIONAL CREDIT CARD (VISA, AMER EXP or MASTER CARD) without ever loseing a dime. Here is how it is done (I assume you are a credit card merchant): Get a fax or e-mail from your client with the card number, exp date and name on the card. Call your credit card company and ask for an international approval for x number of dollars They will probably call you back in several hours as they will check with the corresponding bank in Singapore (as an example) that the transaction is legit. Once you receive the approval number the money is immediately credited to your merchant account. The transaction cannot be undone by the buyer. This is a very safe and secure way to do international business. As a safeguard you can wait until you see the credit in your account before shipping--I never did have that apprehension. Also, Singapore is one of the BEST countries to do business with.

THANKS BOB; All of this is interesting, but I still like CASH. It feels so good in my hand & there is no extra charge. Western Union works well for me...JER

I agree with you. I have been stuck so many times over the years that I have developed indicators as to credit card fraud:

E-Mail address such as @yahoo.com - In other words an anomomous server.

Indonesia, Nigeria or other resident outside the U.S.

Requirement to ship Fed Ex - FedEx will release the cue to the consumer even if he does not pay import duties and then back-charge the cue maker. Not only do you lose the cue but then you have to pay the import fees/taxes.

Requirement to ship immediately/overnight. Of course they don't mind the high cost because it is going to come out of the cuemaker's pocket in the long run.

IN SHORT - IF YOU ARE GOING TO SHIP A CUE TO ANYONE OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES OR CANADA - GET YOUR MONEY FIRST VIA WESTERN UNION. I ONLY SHIP VIA U.S. POSTAL SERVICE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY SHIPPER THAT HAS INSURANCE. The other shippers have something called "Declared Value" which implies "insurance" but is not insurance. You find out when you try to collect on a damaged cue.:o(

My experience in Singapore

I shipped a cue to Singapore to an AZer here. He had me insure it for 1/2 value because of the taxes.

It took 10 days and the buyer got nervous.

I lost control of the package as soon as it got there, so when it got there it went into a black hole.

BUT --- It got the the buyer and he was happy.

So it worked out okay.
