Shoes

I've started wearing my ECCO sneakers to the pool hall. I often play 4-6 hours at a time and am never distracted by uncomfortable feet while wearing them. They make all kinds of shoes and every pair I've owned have been comfortable and long lasting. I've been a fan of the company for over 15 years and swear by them. Expensive, but well worth it.

Red wings has some nice shoes as well as boots. I go with the insoles they sell there as an add on. The worx steel toes with inserts are more comfortable than my Asics running shoes... I wear the boots all the time whether at work or not.

Yes,

Merrell
Keen
Arcopedico

You will certainly have comfort

I'll second Merrell. Most comfortable shoes ever for my hard-to-fit wide, flat feet. They seem to be the shoe of choice for nurses (my daughter wears only Merrells on the job), and those gals (and guys) spend a lot of time on their feet.

Orthotic inserts may work for some (though they won't fix a poorly made shoe), but there are so many good choices these days, it's hard to rationalize spending hundreds on a custom orthotic.

ECCO Intrinsic Chukka has become my new pool shoe. Amazing comfort for 8-10 hour sessions

I have worn Red Wing shoes exclusively for the last 16 years. I don't get the work shoes. They have a line of casual type shoes that I bought on recommendation of my neighbor.

I went into the store and tried on a few pair that appealed to me. Problem was they didn't feel right and I mentioned to the salesperson that they may after I break them in. He said that if a shoe had to be broke in don't buy it, buy a shoe that feels comfortable when you put it on. He suggested to try some other styles and forget about the look. I tried on different styles, and different sizes. I found a pair that felt really great and he was right, if the shoe is the right one it doesn't need to be broke in or getting use to.

We left for a Alaskian cruise two days later. I wore those shoes walking miles on the streets of Vancouver, and all the ports in Alaska. Never had to break them in and my feet felt great.

Walking shoes are made for walking, altletic shoes are made for dynamic movement, running shoes for running. For pool you need a shoe that is made for standing on hard surfaces.

Had to have em

At the Cotton Bowling Palace. Had to be Johnson Murphy or other top of the line
Alligator. Gonna win me enough money if I can stay offa the booze to buy me a
another diamond ring and a pair of alligator shoes. Sneakers or any other comfortable
shoes were out of the question. Long matches you'ed see both players playing in
their socks. We might have been uncomfortable but we looked cool with those
diamond pinky rings, sharped creased slacks, designer shirts, and them ALLIGATOR
shoes. Only player around then that dressed differently was Billy Stroud. He always
wore shoes and clothes that looked like they were imported from France, Italy, or
God knows where and looked real expensive, But his shoes looked comfortable, He
had alligator shoes that looked comfortable. He was different.
Now I just be jellin
jack

Adidas Campus... the nuts.

Just wanting to know if I had chance to try ur new Pegasus out and what ur thoughts were on them

My Rockports finally broke down & I was in WalMart & saw a couple of pair that looked like Skeatchers. They were $20 with a memory foam insole. I tried them on & bought 1 Black & 1 Brown pair. I've played with them & it is like not having anything on but with lateral support. I'm going back & buy a few more pair.

I'm very happy with my choice. They're light weight, supportive, and comfortable like a slipper. The fly strings work well with contouring the shoe with my foot. I bought a torques color because it was the only premade shoe for a 12W. I don't know if I look like a ball player or a gay person.

You would get better information reading the reviews on Amazon. The price went up by $20 already.

I'm a serious pool player and spend a lot of time on my feet at the pool table. I'm thinking about in investing in a good pair of shoes that will accommodate my long hours at the pool table.

Are there any suggestions on what type of shoes I should buy?

I would go to a good running store, and get fit for a good pair of running shoes. They have by far the best arch support, and are generally light weight, breathable, and also have the best shock absorption. Walking shoes are just a dumbed down version of these, and dress shoes are usually heavier. I advise on shoe wear frequently at my job, and I would generally go this route for long hours of pool.

Don't make the mistake of just buying a pair at sports authority. Running shoes are made for different arch heights and foot types. You should be fitted correctly (not just for size) the first time you go, and should try on a few different pairs.

if you can afford it
i would go to a podiatrist and get custom orthotics (insoles)
to use in the shoes of your choice
you may have to adjust the size shoe you buy to accommodate the orthotic

While i think there is value in custom orthotics, the research is actually quite clear that there is no statistical difference in the effectiveness of custom orthotics vs a good off the shelf brand like spenco or superfeet.

I used to have a pair of Van's that were awesome. I think they were so comfortable simply because they had an insole made of a thick rubber that was just the right firmness. Not too soft so as to allow your foot to feel the floor. And not too hard. So basically a "skate shoe" style shoe is what I've been looking for since those Van's wore out.

Problem is finding shoes like this made in wide sizes. Those Uggs look like they might fill the bill.
