Hi all! I don´t use to write a lot :o but I have been developing a billiards simulator for about 3 years and I have just released a small demo today. It would be nice that you test it in order to improve it for a future release. The link is in this facebook page FACEBOOK_HERE/pages/Shooters-Pool/254277547961451 (sorry I cant put links yet :()
I am sure you will like its graphics (see the screenshots and videos), but its best feature is its physics engine, I have made a lot of research (my end of degree project in computer engineering was based in this simulator) and I can say without any doubt they are (In my opinion) the best out there.

Give it a try and post your feedback ;)

Have downloaded your pool simulator. Am wondering, vs player mode is still locked?

Anyway, it's a great start. Everything feels alright but it seems to me that the action of the cueball seems.. somewhat distant from the actual thing in real life (I know that I'm asking too much but it's just how I feel).

Would like to ask something though, after shooting, is the view suppose to be stagnant? I have to turn the mouse around to chase after the cue ball to see what it is doing. For now, nothing else to add as it's a demo. But looking forward to the official release :D

I am happy you liked it :)
This a small demo and there is no vs other player. It is strange since all people says ball action is impresive, maybe it is that we usually play in a bit different tables(this weekend I played in a tournament and the cushions felt really weird in comparison with the table I train) and we have different sensations.
Yes, view is static once you shot, would you prefer it to follow the cueball? or the object ball? I can add an option...

I'll check it out after I get home from work. Thanks for posting it.

Here's the link to make it easy on the non-Facebook people:

Good job. I look forward to testing it out some.

Dave

Hi dr_Dave! Your website was very useful for improving the physics of the game. Thank you very much. I hope you like it.

I do like it :D Could it be that my usual playing style is different? It seems very different from how I play and makes me a little frustrated to guess what is going to happen.

Anyway, for the view, perhaps after shooting, it could zoom out to full table and let us see what is happening? Static views does not let players see what is happening. But, make it an option instead.

Perhaps, add in the option of gameplay for 8 ball, 9 ball and 10 ball? :P

For an alpha it's actually pretty good. Nice attention to physics, that's the hard part. I thought deflection was a bit much, but still I figure I could get used to the adjustment if I practiced.

I had some graphical errors like black windows on all the balls

Keep up the good work

i can never get those .exe files to work on my mac. any suggestions?

maybe you can install a virtual machine (VirtualBox for example), then install windows on that machine and try to install the game. It is possible it doesn´t run because on virtual machines gfx memory is usually very low.

I'm glad my stuff helped.

Your simulator is very impressive. Not only does the physics stuff seem very realistic, the graphics and sound effects are also impressive.

Did you publish any papers related to your work? If so, please post links. I'd like to add them to my website.

Regards,
Dave

Thank you, I very appreciate your kind words :)
Sorry I don´t have any papers, and just now I am not planning to make anything, maybe in the future.

I have released 1.3alpha version. It comes with a snooker game mode (in a new snooker table) and a two online contests. Winners will get a free copy of the game when released! Lets see your 14.1 skills! ;)

Great graphics , it seems great, but on my laptop, graphics are lagging, i will try it on my super computer later. Great work.

thanks :) it is true it needs a powerful computer to run it with full graphics, but I am trying to optimize it to run smoother in older computers.

I don't see a way of starting the game. Created a profile, when I go to start a match it tells me the profile is not signed on, but there is no name showing up to select it, just a black box.

Did you create an online profile? (If not sure, go to the main menu->profiles and see if "(online)" is next to the profile name). If you didn´t, you should see your profile in the box when you select a not online game.
To create an online profile, just check the "Online" check box and fill all fields, then press Ok.

An issue may be that the default settings are at all high. Maybe set to Low or Medium at first setup.

I can't check the online box, it's not selectable for me.
