Shootin alone-how do I get excited?

@scott that game you mentioned is like Fargo but with Fargo you break take BIH and shoot till you miss. Each ball is a point but you can switch to rotation at two points per ball but once you switch to rotation you can't change back until the rack is over.

I been playing Fargo two hours every other day for about 6 weeks I still have not gotten board with it, it's a really good dril to sharpen your skills.

Yea, they're similar and Fargo is good too.

I started playing around with 10.5 after I stumbled on Allen's web site. I think I like it better because there is a definite maximum score you're shooting for as opposed to an arbitrary point where you switch to rotation like in Fargo. I think always shooting for that perfect 75 is what helps me stay focused.

I'd ask to rent the table and play the ghost.
If you want a drill that isnt just rifling them in, try Bert's 6 pointed star. You can spot up 3 times with one rack of balls. Fargo also sounds like a good idea.

Or you can do like Fast Eddie and throw a bill on the end rail and see if you get any takers.!

tip for using coin tables

what I do if no one is waiting for the table is drills, I use the cue as the object ball and that way it gets returned,
I do lots of cut and rail shot drills.
:^ )

Do whatever you feel like doing. Sounds simple but a lot of people think they have to be working on something specific when they practice alone. A lot of times I won't work on anything in particular and free-practice, just shooting whatever I want. Lately it has been just running banks other times I might just shoot rotation with some specific things mixed in. Can't tell you how many times I have figured something out that was evading discovery while just free-practicing.

before I got my table.. I was also stuck with a pay per rack bar box.. so this is what I did..

8-ball break ..focus on popping the CB to center table

run balls 14.1 style..

when you miss collect the rest of the balls on the table and recreate that shot.. shoot it over and over until you run out of balls..

rinse ...repeat..

Lesson: missing easy shots gets expensive

Hmm either try potting all 15 balls rotation style(hitting the lowest numbered ball first) after placing them randomly or breaking, or maybe Fargo... Or maybe put out 9 balls and only do bank shots then when you are done put the rest of the balls and do the same.

Oh and if nothing goes in on the break you could re rack and take another practice break ;)...

Bought a breakrak

Ok, ...I just bought a BreakRak...so I can work on my break...this won't cost any quarters, and it's perfect for this place I shoot at, since I have the entire private banquet room to myself, the pool table is in the banquet room.
I'm really excited to start doing some major work on my break...it's gonna be like going to the driving range...which is funny, cuz this place is ON A DRIVING RANGE, LOL.

how do you play the ghost? Never done that. Hear bout it all the time on here, you just play against yourself, alternating turns like usual?

How u play Fargo? Never heard of it.

Playing the ghost is usually racking nine ball, breaking and taking ball in hand. If you get out without missing, its a game for you. If you miss and dont get out its a game for the ghost. If you struggle, lower it a ball and play the 8 ball ghost. If you can't beat that, play the 7 ball ghost, etc. Race to whatever you want. I usually play a race to 5.

Sounds fun

Sounds like challenge-1 chance to do it, sounds like it has the ability to hold your attention. Thx

10 racks with max score of 30 per rack, so 300 maximum score

for each rack,

Open break spotting any balls that go in

Take ball in hand and shoot balls in like in straight pool (any ball, any pocket) getting 1 point per ball. This is called the RANDOM phase of the rack.

At ANY point, you may switch to the ROTATION phase of the rack. Once you switch, you must shoot in rotation order and you get 2 points per ball.

I can't stand listening to this guy's voice, but it's explained here:

So if u miss, or scratch is the game over...do you re-rack and continue the count?

We're going to assume that if you miss, that rack is over. It is not explained that way in your post or your video.

Believe it or not, there are many that read this that could/would not make that basic assumption.

Maniac (not the sharpest tool in the shed, but figured this one out on his own)

Yes, that's right. A miss ends an inning.

Play the ghost. It's helps put pressure on me and puts you in a faux-competitive scenario.
