Shooting Without “Aiming”

I realize what your saying. I’m just not using a formula or the mechanics that are touted in this section of AZB.
I don't use a 'system' either when playing. Which is what I now believe you meant when you said you don't 'aim'.

I advocate for the ghost ball method (system/whatever), and preach solid fundamentals, but in reality I really don't make much effort to adhere to those suggestions. That aiming method and strict fundamentals accelerated my progression as a player early on, and it's a nice crutch to lean on when things aren't going my way. However I'd hazard a guess and say I don't handle aiming these days any differently then you.

I don't know why some think it's impossible for some to see the angle of approach to the OB automatically ?

This has been proven in videos . They teach the no feathering or practice stroke shooting in snooker .
And is also taught by Tor Lowry .
Setup shots, shoot without practice strokes .
I wish I was 25 years younger and had time to practice it .

I realize what your saying. I’m just not using a formula or the mechanics that are touted in this section of AZB. I do utilize the 1/2 ball hit for spot shots But the half ball hit has been around years before Hal and fractional aiming.

And that halfball aim is the core of my fractional method. It comes in very handy to know 100% whether or not any particular shot can be made using a halfball aim.

Thousands of players do the same. There are also quite a few aiming systems, some of which can help players of all levels. Even pros will use systems on occasion for particular shots.

I think not needing to aim is related to being good enough to keep the pool manageable. That is, in line, same ole shots/angles, passing the "difficult" shots for simple safeties. Ultimately though, if you haven't aimed, you guessed - not my idea of good sense.

You obviously have never been to a honky tonk or roadhouse. Only beer and wine, coin operated tables, horse trough for a urinal, only country and western on the jukebo, Lonestar and Jax beer and real country folks. Travel back in time I East Texas and get a dose of it.

Nope not much on wanderlust. Went to LV one time in the 70s. Lost a couple hundred lol. I do recall country music was the preference in the action bars/small rooms I've been to though.

"horse trough for a urinal"

Galvanized and painted the same color as the wall above, with a pipe with holes bored in it that ran the full length that trickled enough water to keep the piss flowing. You mean that urinal?

Yep...tilted so it leads to a hole with a pipe that goes through the floor and ends up on the ground right under the wood frame honky tonk...you got it...back in the 60’s there was a wall separating the Blacks and the Whites...a segregated beer joint....all the beer cans were steel and just piled up outside in the woods about 6 foot high to rust and decompose...

I'm only 75, so you've probably got a couple of years on me, but I'd go back in a NY second.

Old Milwaukee 16 oz.....those rascals would rust right in front of your very eyes!
