Hi Everyone.
I just wanted to take a minute to post my thoughts on a really great product called the Break Rak. I've seen posts on this before, and maybe someone has already done a review, but oh well, here goes:
I purchased the break rak long ago not too long after it was released. Basically, this is an object that looks about like a rack of 9 ball, suspended by two bungee cords between a fiberglass rod frame that bends around one end of the table. It takes about 20 seconds to set up, and doesn't have any effect on the table.
The purpose of this device is to build muscle memory and learn how to hit the rack squarely, developing cueball control in the process. A "successful" break using the break rak is when you hit the rack hard and square, and the cueball stops dead in the center of the table without ever going to a rail. Do this consistently with a real rack, and you will be breaking awesome! The main benefit of this device is that you can break, see how it went, then instantly break again without wasting time racking the balls. In 45 minutes, you can actually get a pretty good workout in! If anyone has the chance to try this, I highly recommend it! If you are serious about wanting to improve your break, this will be a very helpful tool.
The quality of the product is great. I think this device is VERY effective at achieving the goal. I highly recommend going to the website and checking out their videos, since they do a great job of showing what the product is and does. My only complaint (and a small one) with the model I have is that it tends to bounce the cueball back a *little* bit more than a real rack would. This is very easy to ignore. All it means is that a ball that would normally stop in the dead center of the table instead comes back to the head string. Not a big deal. However, be aware that they have created a "version 2" revised model that addresses this issue.

I should also point out that when I had a problem (I broke one of the pieces), Charlie was VERY helpful and took care of me right away. I like dealing with companies with that attitude. Also, I have absolutely no affiliation with the break rak company or Charlie. I'm just a very satisfied customer.
Enjoy,
