Every time I hear that line from COM when Vince's GF says "if you make another ball you'll be humping your hand for a long time", I think of an 8-ball game I was in with a known mob soldier. I had seen him break a beer bottle and cut a guys face all to hell and another time in the same bar he pistol-whipped a guy for talking to his GF.

We were playing for $20 a game and I was ahead four games. As I was about to run out the 5th game he bent over the table in front of me and said if I won this game he was going to *uck me up. I had an easy shot on the last ball (a half table straight in shot) and the 8-ball was hanging in the corner pocket. I knew this guy would do what he said if I ran out, so missed the pocket by six inches…but it banked back in the corner pocket I was standing at. I just stood there looking back and forth at him and the hanging 8-ball. I didn't know what to do. If I made it I was going to get a beating at the very least. If I missed it he would probably say I was hustling him or something with the same outcome.

All of a sudden he burst out laughing and threw a twenty on the table and said, just shoot the eight in kid, and then go change your underwear. Johnnyt

I played a mexican drug dealer about 10 years ago $20 a game 8 ball. I beat him out of 10 games and he said you have to come out to my car to get paid. When i got to his car he opened the glove box and pulled out a 9mm and put it on the front seat. It had been sitting on a stack of 100's (assuming 2-3000). Anyhow he paid me and i decided never to play him again.

He got what he wanted... r-e-s-p-e-c-t. At least that's what he would call it.

Yes. In most bars in the 1950's hardly anyone played call shot 8-ball in a bar. You must be a little younger than me> Johnnyt

A fellow geezer has got your back on that fact from the olden days. :groucho: ... and we know who Groucho is too! :groucho:

Reminds me this one night in a bar back in the 70s. I was in this bar in Lowell MA. A real dump called Ray's Tavern. I was about 18 at the time (the drinking age was 18 back then) and was in there with my buddy Mike. We were looking to score some weed.

We headed into the back room where there was a pool table. Not just anyone got in the back room cause a fair amount of drug deals went down in that room and usually some one was always burning a joint. My buddy Mike grew up with the son of the owner so we had no problems getting in.

There was this really skinny dude shooting. The room was small and there was this skanky looking red head behind him. She had her back towards the dude. He pulled the cue back to shoot and hit her in the butt. She turned around and started screaming about the pervert trying to ram a cue up her a$$. Next thing you know her two male friend are holding this poor dude while she takes the cue and unloads on the side of his head. He hits the floor with blood coming out of his nose and the two guys start kicking the crap out of him. Mike and I look at each and we head out.

The Lowell cops were always at Ray's and we knew better than to be there when they showed up. Sometimes the cops would grab you and they would beat you up just for the hell of it.
