I also constantly change my bridge length to accomodate the length of my stroke...hard hit, long stroke, long bridge distance, short = shorter... The short bridge is especially important when a VERY soft shot (with or without spin) is made...control of the tip is paramount then!
So, basically, you give up before you have the chance of learning how the new bridge works.
I use at least 13 different bridges over the course of a night. They all have different purposes. In particular, the short bridge is for delicacy and presicion, while the long bridge is for power. Don't confuse which bridge is for what purposes.
