So Allen showed up to support a new rack our BCA league is using and I had a chance to get a photo, an autograph and shoot a game with him as well. Didn't do all that well, but I'm only a C player anyway. Watched him clean house for a couple of hours before he had to leave. Hell of a nice guy.

He is one stand up gentleman. He once was playing in an after hours match at a room I used to run. After the action as everyone filed out, 5 or 6 pros tipped me for staying open and allowing the early am action. When Allen left...he tipped me 5x what the others did...and he did this more than once, and without anyone seeing. He gets 4 stars in my book.

That doesn't surprise me at all. He took the time to sign everybody's item, take photos, chat, and shoot games with complete strangers and treat them like friends. It's always nice to meet a professional (in any walk of life) and have them represent their craft that way.

Did he point out what separated amatures from professionals during your match??? Just Kidding. Wish he would have come to the IPT when it was here in orlando a couple of years ago.

Allen is definately a class act. You don't see him much in the Pool halls around here anymore. I guess he's been busy. All I know is that I've never heard anyone say they had a problem with Allen. He's about as easy going of a guy I've ever met.

Always a gentlemen.., a real class act.

I know I'm speaking for many when I say that Allen Hopkins should have inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame long ago!

Let's hope the BCA does the right thing in 2007!

Yeah, really! Look at how much he and Dawn have given back to the industry with the SBE.

No, but he was kind enough to answer some questions after. I told him I'd only been playing seriously for three months and he was pretty impressed. Maybe there's hope for me afterall, lol.

If you've only been playing for three months, ask his wife Dawn to give you lessons and learn how to play the game mechanically correct!!

I had to shut myself off from all competition for a while to re-learn for how to play mechanically correct from Dawn. And it was worth it!! I really do have a straight stroke because of her.

I have never met Allen but met his wife Dawn at the Florida Classic. She was really nice and down to earth also.

Crikey, that's a goatee! Looks like a bunch of spiders havin' a meetin' on your chin!! :p

Allen is good peoples...

I'd love to, but being in the Metro Detroit area doesn't make it easy to get ahold of people like Dawn let alone get lessons. Does she have any instructional DVD's or anything?

She probably doesn't, but she should. Dawn is a really, really good instructor.

So where did you see him on Thursday night? He was at Plush Pockets last night for almost three hours "cleaning house" against all takers. He must be doing some kind of promotional tour for that rack you mentioned.

He was at the Shark Club in Canton. It was nice because is was a very low key thing. No one really announced that he was coming so there were no crowds.

I agree with you, Allen should be in the BCA Hall of Fame.
