Earl was jumping playing twoshot pushout before most could. He hates jump cues but they are his bastard children.

Quite right, Hu. Sammy Jones and Earl Strickland were the first two players to show great proficiency in jumping with a full cue. They are the ones who popularized the jump shot, which ultimately led to the invention of the jump cue. There's some serious irony here.

I strongly disagree.

I had much, much rather see the Earl that's calm, cool and collective. That's the Earl that made him a champion.


I strongly agree with this post. I would much prefer to see great pool played than see somebody come unglued. Watching a young Earl laughing and applauding his opponent's great shots, that is what I liked to see and still want to see.

A calm Earl is fun to watch and he is still able to maintain that sometimes.
