Ok, I found a used table. I have to be at work today and the wife is home. she wants to know should she tip the installers when they are done? If so how much?
Thanks
Michael

THAT all depends on what kind of job they did, was it above and beyond...or normal?

Dude,

You're at work today and your tables getting set up?

WTF s wrong with that statement?

Have the wife get the names of the installers and if your happy at least give them @ least $20 each.....

If you are really happy or they went above and beyond seek them out with a case of their favorite beverage beyond that tip.

They're boss should know what they like;)

i'm not a huge fan of tipping anyone. but i have a friend that installs tables and the tips he gets really helps his income. i'd say if you're satisfied with the work (and only if you're really happy with it) you tip them a little extra. make sure you inspect the work before you give them anything though

You left your wife with the installers  are you out of your mind lol I'm kidding but if the work is top notch Yes .

tips are always appreciated but on the other hand you are already paying. Buying the guys lunch or throwing them a $20 for something to eat later is nice. If people work for me I always ask them if they want coffee, soda etc,. Certain jobs I may tip but setting up a normal pool table say like an 8 footer is probably not that big of a deal. Really your already paying these guys around $50 an hr.

Unless they are doing something extraordinary than its just a courtesy decision on your part. I never tip my auto mechanic as he makes $80 an hr already, I don't tip my doctor. But lets say I have my car detailed, if he tells me $90 I will throw him a c-note.

Everyone feels better when they get a tip. Since a person should never expect a tip, this is what I like and I get them all the time. Doing little things like repairing cue's with new tips for example. Putting on a rack cloth. Not saying guys have to do extra but my advice is to overwhelm your customer with compete satisfaction. Some guys even carry bandaids with them.(just kidding).

only if a tip jar is provided......

:rotflmao1:

I couldn't resist sorry.

I have nothing of substance to add..

:sorry:

If they did an excellent job I would call their boss and give them some recognition. If they are the boss a few bucks or lunch is always a bonus.

Ordinarily I would be against it. I've never tipped a plumber or other repair guy - in fact, I always have to calm my wife down after she sees how much they charge for such a small amount of time.

But I've just experienced a guy who operated on my table like it was his own, put in a huge amount of time to do it right, taught me a lot while he was doing it, and didn't charge that much to begin with. With this kind of guy you want to do something to show your appreciation. That guy, no surprise, was Realkingcobra.

But I still hid the tip from my wife. :grin-square:
