Shouldn't Carom Have Its Own Forum Apart From Deno?

I'm new to 3 cushion too.. Ive been playing pool for so long..I'm kinda burned out on it.. 3 cushion has sparked my curiousness.. :) definetly deserves a forum of its own. 3 cushion was ruled by the U.S. now we just plain suck. Its time for us to make a comeback. there are more Billiard tables it the US than there are snooker tables. if snooker can get its own forum..than 3 cushion..or carom should get its own too. I will definetly post there :)

Sounds like a good idea to me, except it has the same isolation problem as the snooker group.

I'm not so informed about US snooker - but I think there is a great chance we'll see more carom activity in the US to come. Willing to help change things by gladly playing a role in the discussions and represent someone who is active in the carom "sphere" (and online). That is, if there are interested members out there and the powers at az would be open to it...

I think a forum here is fine. In theory another could be started elsewhere, and that has been done before, but I think all the attempts have died. As for the USBA participating, I suspect that at least one officer will be monitoring the discussions closely.

So we should rename it to Bob Jewett on Carom Billiards??? :)

I believe the section should just be "Carom Billiards", let whoever want to answer questions do so!!

Yes, absolutely. Let's not tie it to any one person. It belongs in the main category right where straight pool and snooker are, and should just be Carom Billiards.

I think it should just be "Bob Jewett" and not limit it to just one type of game. j/k "Carom Billiards" has my vote. Or instead of 'pocket billiards' we can call it 'ain't-got-no-pockets billiards'. Or, "what's-wrong-with-this-pool-table pool". One of those would simply highlight the prominent differences in the equipment. Here's another - "bigger balls". Visitation might go down with that one.

(btw, consider this a "bump" if nothing more of value was found here) hehe

-yow!

"Carom Billiards" is a perfect name. We can talk about 3-cushion, straight-rail, balkline or 1-cushion.

We can use wei's http://cuetable.com/C to discuss shots.

I just watched a dvd on my ipod where you were the referree in a Sang Lee /Havermans(?) match.

Or in other words, bump.:)

I discovered back then that a great way to learn 3-cushion was to referee games with good players... Sang played a great match; if I recall correctly, he ran a 14 and a 15 in the same game. Louis Havermans is a terrific player, too - he has a lot of discipline and a classical European style.

It seems that there is interest by several members in having a Carom Billiard Forum in the Main Section.

I stated in a previous post that I thought this is a great idea, but we need more than interest. We need Carom Billiards threads with people talking and participating to show a need for a new forum and then maybe Mike will move them to the "New" forum.

Does anyone care to go first?

Steve

Good idea. I'll start with a thread asking some questions about carom tapers that I've always wondered about.

Straight pool and snooker now have their own forums in AZB's main category. How about a forum for carom in the main category? ...
OK, folks. The hard-working and ever-vigilant AZB staff has gone ahead and moved the previous carom group from "Ask the..." to the "Main Category." Renamed, too.

Post 'em if you got 'em.
