Quilted maple is one of my favorite woods but you don't seem to see it very often.

So lets see some now! I may even be interested in trading for something simple too.......

Hey Dave, quilted maple is largely obtained from soft maple, and soft maple is not used often for pool cues. I do have a few squares of quilted hard maple and it is a rarity. The scale of the quilting is kind of large though and it might not show up well in a forearm. I'll see if I can take a photo of it this weekend.

there are some pics of a few of mine somewhere in the galler with cored Quilted handles and actually the most figured piece i have ever seen can be found at Eddie Wheat's myspace page with the rest of his cues.

it is a highly figured piece he used as a forearm, and it is highly figured to say the least.i know one famous cuemaker at leas thet will use Quilted Mapl for a forearm and not use a core.it is actually only minimally weaker than hard Maple and still considered a hardwood.it is also basically as stable as hard maple too.i am not saying i would use it without a core, but i will say that it is done.

My wife gave me this for Christmas a few years ago. Pink, yeah, I know. Still, the quilting is amazing.

you didn't say it had to be a pool cue

I had a Dale Teague cue that had a very nice quilted maple handle....but I looked back through my pictures and don't have a good picture of it. Oh well, I tried.

There was a cue posted on here a week or 2 ago that was so quilted it almost made you dizzy. Plain cue, no points, and quilting out the ying yang. I'd re-post the photos but I have no idea where that post went.

Mully ...

I think your talking about the one Eddie Wheat showed in his pic thread ...That cue was something else ...

Pete Ohman has the quilt

Here are two forearms, soon to be box cues that Pete is working on.

Here is some quilted spaulted maple that I will be sending out for stabilization and eventually, another box cue project. I'm thinking ebony and natural veneers on this beautiful wood.

Lastly, the best looking quilted maple cue I have seen was for sale by Bill Grassley. It too was an Omen and the forearm showed incredable figure. Check out cornerstonecustomcues.com

Yeah, it would be a crime to put points or inlays in something like that. Beautiful wood.

I used to own this one. Was one of Mason's cues

Yea I dont think I've seen one that has looked better than Eddie Wheat's Quilted Maple Cue. That thing is unreal.

Prather had one in there catalog with a Quilted handle that was sick in the picture. It had so much depth it looked like bowls. That is what started my love affair with Quilted maple.
